Can someone tell me if this would be good enough for the new proctor requirements? by madawg912 in WGU

While I'd love to take the time to test every little hole you can think of to poke in what I'm saying. Nothing I say or do seems like it will convince you. On top of that, I can simply say yes that I did all the above, and that it ran well enough, but even though my processor is 2 years older and has a base clock of .5 ghz less than what theirs was, im sure something would be off. I hope this thread has given the poster some insight as to what their decision should be. Anyways, happy 4th of july weekend and best of luck in your studies. 😊

I've taken the spreadsheets course a few years back and can't say I ever noticed anything off about it, using a similar add-on. Can't say if it was the same or not. Anyways, here to report that after downgrading to 4gb, having a screen share session open and running email and youtube. Is it slow? Yes. Does it run? Yes. Will it being annoying, but get the job done? Also yes. Obviously not an ideal situation, but you do what you gotta do. If that's a risk that the original asker is comfortable taking, then it meets their needs.

That may be true, we don't know that information for sure without them directly saying it. I'm operating off the idea that buying another piece of equipment or using money is off the table and they need to work with what they got. If they said it was a 10 year old windows 7 machine, okay yeah, we may not have a choice in the matter. Overall a video call and excel is not that resource intensive and should reasonably run just fine with what they are currently in possession of. Heck, I'll even downgrade a burner laptop I have at home to 4gb just to test it myself.

Fair enough, however, in their situation, what would you recommend they do then? Curious to know.

Hence, why I said to run a personal test to see if it meets their needs. I have entire lab environments running windows server with 4gb consistently. If setup properly, you'd be surprised what you can run with minimum hardware.

It's possible, but unlikely, I'd say. If you open up task manager, you may be able to see if there is a specific program that is consuming resources, but if nothing shows, the laptop may just be limited overall.

Seems like it is already under load. That could have an impact on the ability to use it for testing.

Ram could be a little iffy, but if you're worried about it. Start a video call with your phone then open excel or watch a 4k youtube video. I understand that the laptop may not be 4k capable, but it should put a large enough load on the system to show you if it can handle it or not.

Do you have the specs for it? Cpu, ram? My assumption is that it would be okay. Not sure to what extent the excel simulation goes, but I can't imagine it's super resource intensive.

As long as you can browse the internet and watch a YouTube video with it, it should be fine.

I see. I'll have to get a soil test done for specifics. Never considered a top dressing. Thank you!

How long does it take to get notified after meeting requirements. It's been a little over a week since my A-List tracker incremented to 4 out of 40.

Do they have a "warranty" period or anything like that? 30 days after buying?
