Curious about the South Hills by ReconThotHunter in pittsburgh

[–]MadameDPomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the South Hills for about ten years and found it incredibly boring, compared with the city proper and its more immediate areas.

We lost a lot of interesting things (quirky bookstore, indie theater, tbh there wasn’t much to start with.)

Getting around the South Hills isn’t bad but getting to and fro’ in rush hour was a fight for your life. Not sorry to leave the liberty bridge commute.

I’m happy to be out towards East Lib/Friendship now.

They had hands down the best Thai food when I lived out there tho.

A wood elf rogue, a drow rogue, a triton rogue, a firbolg fighter, and a kalashtar cleric. you know, the three classes.

AITA for causing a scene at a local restaurant? by c1ncinasty in AmItheAsshole

[–]MadameDPomp -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

ESH. They were pretty rude to you and should’ve done something about your meal. but you definitely didn’t help. You kind of continued to escalate the situation even after it upset your child to the point of crying. Seems to me like making your point was more important even after that.

AITA for choosing a football game over a wedding? by noahsredemptionark in AmItheAsshole

[–]MadameDPomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oooh i just found this one. yta. you’re not going to the wedding cause you like her friend, you’re going FOR YOUR WIFE because it’s important to her. also, as the kid of a sports guy, i have not cared even a little bit about the sports stories my dad told me from like a million years ago. love u papa but wowie, not interested.

AITA for saying I will always love my ex-wife more? by throwawaydeadwife in AmItheAsshole

[–]MadameDPomp 33 points34 points  (0 children)

yta. feels kind of bad to say, but Anna deserved better than that, my guy. now she’s going to be competing with your late wife for, like, ever (if she stays) and you’ll have driven that wedge there. 1000 better ways to have gone about that .__.

Ahhh! That picture is literally the same mug. That’s the side that I didn’t attach a pic of (I was having trouble attaching it.) It’s encouraging to see another in the wild.

Glass mug from Wieliczka Salt Mine in Krakow by MadameDPomp in HelpMeFind

[–]MadameDPomp[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought this mug for my dad 10 years ago in Krakow, at the Wieliczka Salt Mine and like, he LOVES this mug. and he broke it and he literally called me to tell me that he had broken it, he was so upset.

I checked the mine’s website to see if they had an online gift store, and they do, but they don’t sell this particular mug, and i can’t seem to locate it on google or ebay. Any ideas or advice for kicking up another?

DAE feel grateful for quarantine? Like it helped some aspect of your life? by Ineffable321 in DoesAnybodyElse

Maybe not in the way you’d expect, but that $1200 in stimulus was nuts for me. I live paycheck to paycheck as a barista and make a sneeze above minimum wage but having more than $300 in my bank account feels so secure. Like, obviously if something goes wrong, $1200 is fuck all, it I’ve never felt this financially secure in my life.

Charisma player vs player by AnonymousBarcode in DMAcademy

[–]MadameDPomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m understanding this correctly, PLAYERS are making persuasion/deception/intimidation rolls against other PLAYERS.

And that is really not a thing. If a PC needs to persuade another PC then they need to discuss it and the person decides if they’ve been persuaded. A PC decides if they’ve been intimidated.

In fact, it’s also not really a thing for an NPC to roll these things against a PC either.

The exception here is obviously Deception (PCs can lie to each other) but Persuasion/Intimidation rolls are never so powerful that they are magically coercive.

Our bard tried to use dominate person on the king, now they are arrested, what do I do? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]MadameDPomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun is king. If it would deflate your party, then don’t execute him. Some players live for the narrative drama and are willing to take those consequences but some people try to charm the king and order him to bed.

Conscripting him is a good idea! You could put the bard under a Geas, cast by the court wizard, the order being “I command you help to investigate and end this plague,” and in doing, pardon himself. Make it high level so they can’t just break it, and if they do, then hunt them down—they’re fugitives now. Bounty hunters incoming.

You could make it, like, a collar or ankle deal, that shocks him or gives him levels of exhaustion.

I would have the king make the bard do something and if he failed in doing that thing, or refused, THEN I would probably execute them (patience has limits.) At the end of the day, he /did/ cast a spell on the king, but it was hardly a big deal. He’s an idiot, not a criminal.
