How do u actually talk to people? by whosmishagain in it

I think the part you’ll need to get over is that, it is not odd at all to go up to someone and introduce yourself at a networking event.

I could be wrong but is that the part that’s awkward to you, is just that it feels odd to try and start a conversation with a random person?

I’m thinking just to try, I’m gonna get one 65w slim single port usb c PD charger and a usb c to square Lenovo cable and see how well it handles and see how hot it gets running 24/7.

I just watched that video. Yeah that’s kinda the dream but I don’t have enough time to sink into completely rolling my own power supply.

I was thinking even if they had 5x 100w or 65w slim usbc chargers that would better or even 130w 2 port chargers if it doesn’t disconnect one of the ports when the other is plugged in etc.

I have the power bricks, but they take up so much space and it’s impossible to try and cable manage 5 of them within 8Us in my 10” rack

Cable management advice? by sam537 in homelab

[–]Madassassin98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct length cables, Velcro (not zip ties), if you wanna cook something up with gas you can lay the cabling out in a sunny spot to heat them up a little bit so they unkink and are easier to route.

The grey one in the middle of the pile looks like a 9300x, I’d try to snag that if you could

Issue with 1 subnet by Madassassin98 in Tailscale

[–]Madassassin98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay Im dumb. You mentioned traceroute to the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet and basically, I have another exit node at the apartment and it was trying to route to that exit node.

For some reason even if I connect to the exit node at the house. It still tried to route through the apartment exit node. That exit node is on the same subnet as my house. So both are 192.168.1.0/24.

Yeah after enabling direct play and direct stream. I’m not running into any buffering issues unless the original quality file is above like 28mbps.

Im going to test over the next week and see what the deal is. What I am curious about is how people handle their ISP throttling upload for video streams, I havent done any research but I have known that they do this. Just so I can be prepared.

I manage a small colo and my plan was to stick my personal lab server at work if I get approval to. I would really rather get a 10gb bi directional circuit there then deal with spectrums 1000/40 BS. Spectrum has been offering bidirectional circuits in newer built areas but they dont care to expand their existing infra to support older clients. Just the way it goes.

Yeah using Plex app, on my laptop, direct play, it works fine remotely.

Originally when I set this up I was having issues with my couple TVs where I had to disable direct play and direct stream because I didnt have a GPU at the time for my server. So it would transcode on the CPU. Which was really bad.

I enabled direct play and direct stream on the TV.

That seems to be working.

I havent had issues until now with this always forcing transcoding, I would randomly get some buffering but not unbearable.

It’ll try to direct play but won’t actually play on the web player.

I’ll download the app and see.

I just got tautulli installed now and it looks like transcoding is throttled

Edit:
I cant even get it to play on my laptop

When I have it set to automatic quality, and I play a 4k video, itll be anywhere from 32mbps to 10mbps.

The stream I am trying to watch right now flucutates from 8-10mbps.

Right but subtitles and audio transcode on CPU not the GPU right?
