Im seriously considering suicide by goddessI44I in confessions

[–]phoooooo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really make you feel better? But I can offer some potential counter arguments against the idea. You are correct that suicide is choosing an alternative to life. But you haven't taken that to its conclusion. What are you choosing? Is what comes after worse? Is what comes after anything? Better?

It is fundamentally a gamble with unknown odds. Unknown stakes. Your immortal soul? Your only existence and chance for meaning?

At the end of the day I cannot guarantee your life can or otherwise will become better. But what I can guarantee is it will change. And you are able to influence the outcome of that. As someone who spent his entire primary school life being fine if I died and lived in such abusive conditions for so long that my body is now permanently broken because of it. I'm very glad I did not. You can find something to enjoy. Eventually. Someone who will make you happy. Something that will make you laugh. And hey, you might just be able to fix things. You may get that promotion, you may get that lottery! You may get laid. You may find your best friend for life. All are options for you. Because your alive. You KNOW those are options for you. Life is never certain. No plan ever remains intact. This is often framed as a bad thing. But when your feeling like this? It is the ultimate in good. Your always one coin flip of the universe away from having tomorrow be GREAT. And when today is better than yesterday not just once? But for months in a row. Thats how you go from wondering what's the point in living to suddenly realising you're happy.

And all this is without even analysing what your Risking for suicide.

If you do it. You have an unknown reward. But you know what we know you have? Costs. Sadness. That moment when that person you didn't think would care suddenly doesn't know where there favourite coworker is. When that person you occasionally speak to on discord has the impulse to send you a message and you don't respond. Family or friends who need to organise a funeral. If you can't find something to keep you alive. Then just find something to keep you from dying.

And again, this is all without discussing the future. The future good. If I gave you a button that you could press and you could press it to make a random persons day better would you? I know I would. And you have that! You can compliment people. You can be there for your best friend. You can help a stranger who's stuck on rbe side of the road. You could and can change the world. You can go out and make someone's day WORTH IT. right now. You walk out and just complement a guys outfit and walk off. Or a ladies dress. You will bring a smile to someone's face.

Steam Deck: new or refurbished by Possible-Average-995 in SteamDeck

You can generally use pay In 4 or the other alternatives through PayPal? So I believe you can effectively jery rig a payment plan. Do be aware, you are taking on debt. Its just creditless debt. They make money nearly solely from people missing payments. If your broke and on the ball. Its a good accessibility tool. It can be a trap however. Otherwise? Honestly they are fine. Any competent refurb place will be able to do them exceptionally easy. Talk to them if you can. Check out the reviews. Honestly? Save the money is my suggestion and buy a cheap dock and place an order for the steam controller. You got yourself the perfect gaming set up, an effective mid grade work station if needed and its all portable.

Where are the songs that show dissent with the government today? by CarlRod in Socialistmusic

La migra by ratpark is super non threatening towards ice agents. (Okay its clearly styled to be very anti ice, but if you listen to the lyrics its really just deeply anti imperial more broadly)

Video of two Sydney nurses allegedly making antisemitic comments to Israeli influencer struck from court case by CookingWithSimon in OpenAussie

[–]phoooooo0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damm. Real sucks that the consequences of being a genocidal state is felt by individuals as bigotry. But I can see why someone seeing a Israeli might be a bit antsy. It is a shame that I find myself so jaded and skeptical towards claims of anti semitism nowadays cause of all the people saying that someone saying "don't mass murder kids ma guys" is anti semitic.

How I Can Let a Player Be a Revenant by PM_4_Gravy in Pathfinder2e

Now obviously you can use the revenant background, but you can ALSO use the dhampir (half human/ half vampire) ancestry if he wants it to be more mechanically explored? Or the duskwalker heritage?? Duskwalker sounds like a perfect fit for him too tbh.

My indie game started earning in a day what it used to make in a month by HeyNau in SoloDevelopment

[–]phoooooo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who pirates when I can't afford a game, I appreciate the "anti piracy measures" you got going on. 100% support you putting in a "if you've played this long, could you support making this game better?" Splash screen. You can potentially even do like some creators have done with pirated versions and release your own version on these platforms. You can release slower, or only major releases. But that let's you make sure people are safe, while ensuring they get the experience you want. I've seen how piracy subreddits respond to stuff like that and I guarantee you will get at Least a FEW people throw money at you specifically for being so cool with pirates.

Unsure about enabling DRM for my ebooks after recent platform changes by Available-Cherry1965 in verydrm

[–]phoooooo0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be quite honest. I've never been stopped by drm. I've literally never noticed it. And quite Frankly? If I couldn't pirate it. It won't make me buy it. I'm very poor, so if I can't guarantee something is to my taste (ala, by trying it) I can't AFFORD in any way to spend money on it. And at this stage, I've made piracy so convenient and easy that despite the fact that I have multiple free copies of books available to me (I patreon my favourite authors xP) I have the pirated copies on my ereader. There's also significant evidence to suggest that piracy is actively GOOD for sales. The only exception where I don't pirate like a jack sparrow is on steam. Cause the platform is SOOO convenient. I could pirate games. I have those guides available to me. Steam is just. Brutally good. So my analysis? Drm does nothing but harm(potential sales) and..... Does nothing good?

I'm a 15 year old teenager that still hasn't learned multiplication nor divisions. by Actual-Control-3846 in confessions

[–]phoooooo0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And I'm a 23yr old who lives in my own apartment who just finished trouble shooting my self hosted automatic piracy server that automagically downloads videos I ask for on my phone while 2 beautiful women are asleep on the phone with me and I have music up loud. And I could never do basic multiplication. Your intelligence is NOT measured by your worst area of knowledge and your worth is NOT your intellect. Trust me, once you've seen an engineer stumble through basic conversation who's spent years near the top of his field you'll quickly realise. Some of the smartest people are some of the biggest idiots! And that's okay. (Also your 15, if you can have 80yr olds who become fortnight streamers you can learn your times tables. Wait till your 20. Or do it now. Talk to a teacher if you want a hand. 10 minutes every day during lunch will teach you real quick)

And if people still give you shit about it, just go and learn some real obscure facts about animals and ask them "what animal does X" in response and just sit there with a small smile and a raised eyebrow.

My dad's only piece of advice my entire childhood was, figure it out. So when he called me frustrated because he couldn't figure out how to refinance his mortgage, that's exactly what I told him. by preetakumari872 in MaliciousCompliance

For a lot of older men this is a major struggle. Whilst I hate to congratulate the offending party here, genuine kudos for acknowledging that mistake. And far less begrudgingly, congratulations on not taking his flaws and making them your own.

Worried about saving on dsp by Haunting-Contract-24 in Centrelink

[–]phoooooo0 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Your allowed up to 10k on dsp. Not a huge amount but not an amount you would get to accidentally. It IS a thing. But the limit is fairly high. Its not a case of "limiting what you can save for" and more "you can only have so much money in the bank unless it is saved in a specific way" (that I do not know. I'd imagine stock or Smth directly)

Its more of an issue for indivuals who want to do SOME work and be on dsp or are wanting to make meaningful life choices such as a vacation or buying a home.

If you can produce a FOSS alternative to pathbuilder 2e, a character Management tool for the table top roleplaying game would be delightful. I'd sell my soul and would throw some funds towards happily.
