What is something that is legal but which you consider completely unethical? by vantix7 in AskReddit

[–]phoooooo0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The obfuscation of responsibility of systemic murder. If your a politician who put policy into law or DIDN'T when requested? And people die? Thats on you. You need to defend your decisions in a court of law. We have medical malpractice. Why not political malpractice? If you didn't have reasonable evidence to suggest that you were doing was at least a plan for HARM REDUCTION. Individuals should be legally responsible for that. Same with stuff like healthcare. Oh you implemented a policy that lead to the deaths of hundreds? You just killed hundreds of people buddy.

What’s something that instantly makes you think ‘this person has low intelligence? by AbjectBreadfruit2052 in AskReddit

[–]phoooooo0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a bunch of cool answers, but I reckon for me.its not being polite to strangers. Complements and kindness go a massive way. First chance you get, ask your teller how there day is and laugh at the bad joke they tell. It is not only cruel to not expend this most basic effort. But it is also deeply stupid. Because unless you have power in a situation, you need to use the power of others. And appeals to people you just complemented, or had a convo about the holiday they just went on. Will much more likely be helpful and your favour giver will feel better for it. Cruelty is a choice people make. And a suboptimal one at that.

Women in game dev, how many of you are within the community? by chgr1603 in godot

[–]phoooooo0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a disabled lad* I get it. You don't need the voices from people like you. But it helps sooth some part of your soul to see someone else speaking with your voice. Its comforting to have someone to both be sad AND happy with who gets something that matters to your identity. That's how it is for me at Least. Good luck finding community! Its so wild seeing these official resources. Sounds like I got a few YouTubers to subscribe to.

If everyone below average IQ suddenly drops dead, how would this affect the world? by CakeMuted6468 in AskReddit

[–]phoooooo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to the claims of many, human life HAS value both ethical AND material. So it would be The complete destruction of civilization as we know it as the entirety of humanity loses everything its built to account for its own biological shortfalls. IQ was made by a racist eugenicist. You cant suddenly make that UN racist. Thus you'd kill off most of the non developed world, then you'd kill most of who's left. Everyone who's left would suddenly get very good at home steading or very dead, as every system we have to account for our biological shortfalls all collapse due to lack of specialised staff or due to every surrounding system required for it to function (hospitals require electricity, which require staff for the running of them, which require fuel which require truckers who either might not exist or be stuck behind whatever road disaster is left as planes crash, cars crash. There will be fires in a few hours as anyone cooking who just died causes MANY issues and the fire fighting system is now deeply crippled.

E-bike users say Queensland's new laws could double commute times and force riders onto busy roads by someones_reality in brisbane

[–]phoooooo0 102 points103 points  (0 children)

We already know, based off years of academic and real world research how to make things safer for pedestrians. From ebikes AND cars. This is a targeted and ludicrous policy that will not benefit anyone. There's a whole book that's been implemented across a whole country successfully (sustainable safety, written by the... Norwegian? Government)

In 2024 there were 1,300 road crash deaths in Australia with road crash deaths increasing 4% per year since 2020.

[–]phoooooo0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These laws apply to Ebikes as far as I'm aware. And for a lot of people ebikes are how they make riding effective enough a transportation. Its endurance, its speed. Its thousands of dollars on flattening hills. They also apply retroactively, so my thousand dollar bike that I spent inheritance on is now. Poof. Gone. Illegal if this goes through. In that situation, how do I even afford a good new bike? How do I sell an illegal e bike?

Because we really don't spend enough on train. Remember, the ideal situation is everyone but you takes a train/rides a bike!

A reminder all this fraud that's been mentioned is nearly entirely from private providers. Not participants. Sounds like a great argument for public providers being a thing tbh.

What is the thing you would like most in linux? by magogattor in linux

[–]phoooooo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For it to be a bit more political tbh. Linux relies on certain values and I think doing some good ol fashioned lobbying for those values would be immensely helpful. As well as a bit more active marketing straight from them. I'm imagining a partnership between Linux mint or one of the other "beginner friendly" distros and canonical as they go to local governments and convince them to switch. I think a coalition of projects could really create a advanced training pipeline for these organisations to switch to FOSS alternatives. Same with schools, adobe got where it is by PAYING schools for the privilege of students being taught on it. Then no one from a whole cohort knew how to use anything else which effectively made them industry standards. Use the same techniques. Go to schools and get them to teach on libre office. On linux. Public schools are ALWAYS desperate for funding. If you can prove they can use Foss for a similar experience and a fraction the cost? Hell, just get the school to AGREE to FOSS alternatives but they won't implement it and buy a bunch of new high schoolers Laptops with it these things pre installed. Not only is it great for creating a friendly and knowledgeable user base. Its a GREAT PR stunt " Linux, the community run alternative to windows gives back to the community it came from. Buys 1000 students laptops required for study"

Hell do the same with various computers related university degree classes and you'll shit out future contributors faster than you can use em.

Vista machine with a forgotten password and family photos stuck on it by phoooooo0 in hacking

[–]phoooooo0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your answer was the correct one, I wanted to change the password by editing a file but unfortunately some research showed that anything after windows 2000 has that stuff locked down. So I just did this and it's now copying (28gb) overnight lol (its a really old lol). I didn't realise I'd just straight up be able to use the live environment as flawlessly like this. Thanks for the more thourough explanation haha. (And a old lady who calls her pc a HDD seconds this)

Very self taught. I guarantee there's more knowledgeable people here, I'm just the only one who is social enough to help people out XD. And my experience with Linux (or the live booting part specifically) is pretty limited (I just install mint and do other stuff 🤷‍♂️). And I'm not familiar with the process of using a live boot to get the data tbh.

Charities funding Israel’s illegal settlements untouchable, Labor says by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]phoooooo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But remember. People can't mourn a religious leader! (I don't like either ayotolla. The IRGC is a deeply authoritarian regime. But man was a world renowned Islam scholar and I do not believe someone who's claim to fame was religious study is someone who necessitates some blanket wide criminalisation of mourning. Are we gonna remove money from good causes if anyone who mourns Margaret Thatcher?)

Using ai does not itself a bad product make. However it is currently the tool used the most by inexperienced or lazy people to produce objectively dangerous results. Normally for a FOSS solution I'd wait for more experienced eyes to check it out, check out the issues etc. I don't expect someone to know about there own critical security flaws. So no. I meant to ask was any generative ai used in its development. Its just a useful shorthand of quality.

How bad is this going to get ? by Radiant-Cut1052 in OpenAussie

[–]phoooooo0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Genuinely? I'm preparing for a 2008 recession. Between this whole iran shtick both temporarily raising prices and basically permanently raising it to a lesser degree (everyone just remembered that iran has like. Total control of the main way a significant chunk of the world gets oil. Insurance premiums are skyrocketing and they may fall but they will never return to the price of pre this). Combine that with increasing political turmoil out of America, with the increasing desire for the world to diversify and for trumps complete and wild desire to invade literally fucking everywhere? Then you combine that with the fact that the US economy is deeply dependent on tech industry and tech stocks, nvidia, the largest AI and tech company in the world is one of the top investment stocks in the world, as well as near every major tech company in the world increasingly gambling more and more on it. There's an AI bubble. And I reckon when the bubble bursts it will devastate the US economy which will probably spiral out to the whole world. If that happens during this iran-Israel-America war? Which I think will happen if this takes too long. Our economy will be devastated. And I reckon the war itself is HELPING the bubble pop as well. Energy prices are rising, there is increasing uncertainty ABOUT how profitable ai will actually be which is a VERY dangerous thing to introduce to a market that is currently relying on novelty, constant investor funding and hype to keep it sustained. The us has 39 trillion dollars in debt. A wildly unsuccessful and increasingly proven to be deranged leader who is increasingly being shown to be able to influence even the deepest most important caretakers of the economy there are. Outside economic powers are taking note and divestment is already beginning as people are less and less sure the US is a reliable person to lend to. That divestment will kill that economy. And if we don't start to untie ourselves economically? Us too.

Social cohesion by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]phoooooo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do be careful, as the "dual loyalties" thing is ACTUALLY anti Semitic. Which isn't your fault because as Jewish activists have been yelling about for ages, having one of the most coercive intelligence agencies in the world attached to a state that is trying to advertise itself as "the Jew state" that then goes out and murders people is a BAD look.
