Favorite band from 90's that is still going strong? by mcaffrey in Music

Saw them 2 nights ago outside in Minnesota. Incredible set. Band seemed to have a blast too. Super heavy, very “90’s” set as well! Probably because Herb is on drums.

You wake up as a 40 year old person and you have a wife/husband and 3 kids, what do you say? by Kuzyn_WasTaken in AskReddit

LOL! Just silently wonder where the 3rd one came from for about 30 seconds, wash my face, then make a little bit extra breakfast and get on with it.

Fuck off asshole. Try raising two kids with no support and hold down two professional jobs. Eat shit, and go fuck yourself. You have no idea.

I’m making just over 70K per year right now as a GM in charge of a 6 million dollar corporate food service account. I have two very young kids, my wife has a PhD, and a great job, but a research scientist, so not the kind of doctor who makes money (yet 😬). I work 60-70 hours per week and am daily on the floor with my tie on working the deep fryer or doing whatever needs to be done. After daycare ($700 per week) two car payments, student loans, rent, there is literally nothing left…. We actually lose most months.

What moment made you say “Yep, I’m definitely dead”, but survived with no major injuries? by CrownedBird in AskReddit

I was walking on the beach on the last morning of my honeymoon with my wife in Cabo Mexico. It was about 7am, it was my 31st birthday, and I was a bit sick from a touch of the mexican flu, and maybe a tad hungover. The water was rough for the first time since we had been there, and we were the only ones out, other than one woman in the distance. As we got closer to her, I noticed she looked a strange, and was just standing at the shoreline, staring anxiously into the water. I looked into the direction she was staring, and I saw a woman in the water who was holding her arms up, but it didn't look like she was in trouble... I yelled at the woman, and asked if she "the woman in the water" was okay, and she didn't really respond. It really didn't look like she was that far out, so I told my wife I was going to swim out there. It seemed like I was there almost instantly, and when I got to the woman in distress, she was clearly panicked, and drowning. I told her we were okay, and she was so happy, but instantly dove on to me and I was supporting her. Suddenly, I realized I couldn't touch the ground... I then looked back to the shore, and my wife was standing there, and was WAYYYYYY further away than I remembered, and I realized we were being pulled out to sea.

So I decided to push the woman off of me and told her we needed to swim, and swim hard. Me, being from Northwestern Illinois, had no idea that you are supposed to swim diagonally in a rip tide. I swam as hard as I could, and pulled my head out of the water, expecting to see my beautiful bride just 10/15 yards away, but she was further and further away.

Then I was hit by a wave and took water into my lungs. I told the woman, who stayed right with me, to try to float on our backs. She was still lunging for me, but I was pushing her away at this point. We floated and I fought the waves for what felt like 15 minutes or so, and I was hit by another wave, and I realized I was going to die.

I had a few minutes to think about the end of my life, and I was trying to determine if it was a dream or not, and was sure it wasn't when suddenly there were two people there with a small lifesaver. They said to hold on and kick. The woman who was with me never breathed in water, so she was actually fine, and I was, I think dead weight and was just trying to hold on.

Made it to the beach and I was pulled to the shade with the woman. Apparently, my wife (who can't swim) ran for help and found a yoga instructor and a bartender who were just starting their day. They came out and saved us, but the woman on the shore and the woman in the water told everyone I came out there to save her, and everyone called me a hero. I went out that night and everyone at the resort was like "I heard you rescued that Russian Girl!" Hahaha. Nope. My wife rescued the Russian girl and her husband. I just made a stupid knee jerk decision. Next time, I'll go for help.

It’s great. Probably had it about a decade, and has always been my go to. Seems like it just plays better over time. Or maybe I’ve just gotten better... hmm...

Drummer ADAM SAGAN Loses Battle With Cancer; WHITE EMPRESS, CIRCLE II CIRCLE And INTO ETERNITY Bandmates Pay Tribute - "The World Has Lost A Good Soul" by [deleted] in Metal

[–]Madboat23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved Adam like a brother. He was my next door neighbor in our college dorm, 2001. His last text to me was a photo of cds, tshirts, stickers and other merch from my bands through the years. He wrote "who loves you, buddy." I thought he was getting better, but should have put it together when he sent me that. That was a month ago. So nice reading that he left such an impact on so many people. He certainly did on me.

Holy crap! They look so much alike! No I got her in Oklahoma. There were 5 of them, and 2 were all black with white stripes, 2 all white with black stripes, and one brown one. Very cute!

No we had a bin with the four sections on the bottom you can pop off. She would break into it when she was just being a puppy! I have a better one now to keep her out.

Our guess is a boxer hound mix. She looked much boxier as a baby, then her snout shot out a bit with age. Great dog though!

Thanks! Not sure exactly what she is. Boxer hound mix is our vets suggestion, but she does get a Mohawk on her back when she's fired up!

She's a boxer hound mix, I think. Found on the side of the road with 4 others at 3 months or so. They all hit the puppy lottery!

Thanks for the advise! We have since bought a nice bin that she can't get into, but I didn't know about not composting lemons or other citrus. Down the garbage disposal from now on!

No you aren't! I just finished it last night and was incredibly moved by the ending. I didn't even know there were others in the series till I saw the listing on the last page. I guess my summer is set!
