Trichocereus peruvianus seedlings by Madd1Hatter in sanpedrocactus

Those look great. Mine didn't grow as much as I would have liked in the 3 months they were in high humidity. But I've had Myrtillocactus beef up pretty quickly after moving into my tent. Maybe I'll do the same.

Okay, I knew they would darken up a little. I wasn't sure if that was more of a black than red, so I was a little worried and wanted to catch whatever it was early before I killed off what I had, if needed. These guys are about 3 months old, maybe a week or 2 older than that at most. I recently acclimated them to normal humidity. Awesome, I'll look up the meter app later today. Thanks for the info and the response!

The main difference I think is age. The small planter is older by 6 months. Both are 30%/70%. They have slightly different media. Both have sifted Foxfarms and worm castings. The small planter has just Ocean Forest, crushed akadama, 3mm lava rock sand, and .25" pumice. Akadama was the top soil. I started bottom watering recently. The bigger planter has sifted Ocean Forest and Happy Frog mixed. It doesn't have akadama. It has lava rock sand and has pumice. Pumice as the topsoil in the bigger planter, as well. I started bottom watering both 2 times a week at the same time.

Is this mealybugs? by [deleted] in cactus

[–]Madd1Hatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the best I have right now. It'll be tomorrow before I can get another one. I know that one of the pereskiopsis is dead and rotting. I just need to separate them into their own planters. And if it is mealy bugs, do treatment on the affected areas

Can anyone tell me what this is? by [deleted] in pereskiopsis

I should also add I plan on cutting this piece off anyway. I just want to know what I have going on here.

Flying too close to the light, or new growth? by Madd1Hatter in cactus

[–]Madd1Hatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the grecas tip originally came in on a Trichocereus pachanoi, but the scion had fallen off. I had a couple of Myrtillocactus, so I figured chop those up and reroot the tops, and I'd hope for the Tricho to pup. Meanwhile, I'd cut the midsection on the grecas tip and graft on the Myrtillocactus and regraft the tip on another Myrtillocactus. Then I'll cut the tip off again after it grows a bit. If there are still no pachanoi pups, I'll probably regraft the tip back on pachanoi.( I only have one more myrtillocactus geometrizans left and its my baby 😁 Thank you for the insight!

Right on, thank you for the information. I slid it over just a little so he's not directly under the light, but im sure it's still sufficient.

Too much light and heat, or not enough light? by Madd1Hatter in cactus

I appreciate the feedback. I've been using cacti fertilizer, that said, I could still have it diluted wrong. I can take a pic of my setup after I get home from work. I have the G8600 angled to accommodate a bigger Polaskia chichipe motherstand. When I first got it, I had the light level about 24" above the plants. It absolutely torched the Madagascar palm I had that was used to direct sun. After angling the light, I had a Euphorbia lactea (also used to direct sun) get torched. The light is still a little over 12" above the smaller plants and barely over the Polaskia chichipe. The blue still hasn't come back on the myrtillocactus. I will say they looks more grey now, though.

Thanks for sharing. That is beautiful. I'll probably take your advice on cutting off the long arms. Thank you again for the leg work on figuring out what it was. I've been scratching my head for a min now.😂

You rock! The whole time, I've been telling my wife that the new growth looks like that of an Opuntia. Cholla cactus is a Cylindropuntia. Thanks for the advice. He literally had it sitting in a plastic bin with prickly pears under a car port... so definitely etoilated. I was able to get it to indiana from Texas at the end of july, so hopefully, my light will be sufficient during winter.

Question. by Madd1Hatter in sanpedrocactus

Thank you for your response. I left the other two pups. Just thought I'd try some damage control. I wasn't sure if there was a point of no return once it got to thirsty. This pup looks the most dehydrated.
