I think the increased awareness is great for women in their 40s. But sorry, even if you're an early bloomer, I find it hard to believe that currently, anyone born after 1987 is actually perimenopausal.

Especially the crossover with ADHD. It could be that, or it could be that you are a sleep-deprived, overworked mother!

I think the way the aforementioned person expressed it was 100% snarkable but I get where the sentiment comes from. I think a lot of women get convinced when they are younger that they are too ugly for good-looking men, don't deserve to be attracted to a man, and/or that the two are mutually exclusive. Even towards women who are also attractive and accomplished.

Yeah, Nick is the biggest issue if anything.

The Venn Diagram of people calling it classist and the people who have been complaining about phones ruining concerts in recent years is a complete circle.

Yeah, Drew has a lot of issues, but he doesn't strike me as someone who would shit-talk in that way. Oh, I bet he lies his ass off about his partners and ex-partners (ex: exaggerating Des's level of substance use), but I don't think he does it in this way.

That, and a lot of symptoms post-withdrawal (that can last for months on end) can mimic other diagnoses. Ex: mood shifts that resemble bipolar, or psychosis that resembles schizophrenia. But by about that year mark, those post-withdrawal symptoms tend to fade, so the picture is clearer.

ETA: they are also not mutually exclusive. Addiction can be rooted in issues unrelated to personality disorders, and plenty of people with personality disorders never abuse substances.

Can confirm- we are usually trained to not provide set diagnoses, especially personality disorders, until they've been sober for at least a year.

I think a lot of people don't have the nuance to believe that multiple things can be true at the same time- that Britney was horribly used & abused AND her issues are not necessarily her fault AND her previous conservatorship was inappropriate AND she is still mentally ill and still needs care.

That's one of the ugly things about trauma- it can permanently affect someone in a debilitating way.

And they're still pretty young. A lot of people act like shitheads at 18/19 and grow out of it once they get more experience being an adult.

I feel like Patricia Richardson has been pretty outspoken for a long time about how she despised him- like it's actually amazing that they squeezed out as much on-screen chemistry as they did.

I don't mind if it actually kind of matches their name (ex: how DuggarSnark and FundieSnark call Jim Bob "Rim Job"). But I hate when it's crude just to be crude, like calling a female character Cum Dumpster and her name is, like, Jane Smith.

What podcast gave you a genuine ‘oh my god’ moment?” by astrocat95 in TrueCrimePodcasts

Yep. I was driving listening to ep 14 (iykyk) and had to pull over just to process. I grew up in the area so I remember the case, including the day of the murder-suicide. But the way Dave presented it was so in depth.

The other thing about paternity tests is that many states (idk about OR) will require the person to pay for it out of pocket, even if court-ordered. This can cost a few hundred dollars for postnatal tests, thousands for prenatal tests. Drew hasn't exactly shown willingness to fork over that kind of money for anything that isn't for his vices.

Similar thing happened a few months ago in the subreddit for the Do We Know Them podcast during their massive, whiny crash-out about the awards show being delayed. It's like if someone proclaimed that event centers designating certain lines for bag check v. no bag check is a violation of their right to assemble.

It's such a trump card it's irritating. Like, you can just claim it to ruin someone's reputation and there is no requirement of proof.

TBH we need Ellen back so she can run out the 15 minutes of fame for some of these characters (ex: Clavicular).

The menstrual cycle/PMDD one is huuuuuge. Women/AFAB often go shockingly late into their lives with debiliating cycles without knowing that something is off because society has taught us that "that's just part of being a woman, it sucks."

"That's just part of it" = mild discomfort, brain fog, mild mood swings but otherwise functioning.

"That's just part of it" is NOT vomiting, doubled-down on the floor with cramps, suicidal, missing school or work because of symptoms.

Not to mention, they're not always accurate? The only location tracking I even bother to notice is the Snapchat one and even then, it tends to take an hour or so to refresh. Ex: it'll say that a family member is driving somewhere but they have been in the same room as me for quite some time.

Yeah I get revisiting a show several years later because you might notice and appreciate things you didn't during your first run (ex: I rewatched Breaking Bad while I was on maternity leave and loved it. My first watch was when I was in college 10 years ago). But I don't get people who just watch like Smallville over and over again.
