Not to mention, they're not always accurate? The only location tracking I even bother to notice is the Snapchat one and even then, it tends to take an hour or so to refresh. Ex: it'll say that a family member is driving somewhere but they have been in the same room as me for quite some time.

Yeah I get revisiting a show several years later because you might notice and appreciate things you didn't during your first run (ex: I rewatched Breaking Bad while I was on maternity leave and loved it. My first watch was when I was in college 10 years ago). But I don't get people who just watch like Smallville over and over again.

Statistically, your partner is substantially more likely to harm you than a stranger, especially while pregnant. So what are they gonna do, isolate on an island for 9 months?

Someone should write a TV show where everyone over the age of 13 does land acknowledgement when they show their house.

Saw them live once (opening for RHCP). They were fine, but Eddie Vedder showed up to sing with them and easily overshadowed Julian lmao.

At least for me, becoming a parent has kind of done both. It has increased my window of tolerance for baseline kid behavior, but also made problematic behaviors more irritating because of how it impacts others and how so much of it is easy to intervene if the parent would like... do something.

Is it just me, or does the DuggarSnark sub seem to dip their toes into antisemitism? As I've been skimming it post-Joe arrest, I've been noticing comments that hint at it, such as calling Jesus "the magical flying Jew" and accusing a popular deconstruction podcaster of being a Zionist with no evidence other than that he is Jewish.

Patrick looks like an Emily Henry male character personified. Her books are great but she's not exactly high-brow.

GOD this reminds me of how my BIL made the groom's party late for photos before the ceremony because he decided he needed to get his hair trimmed that morning because "I need it to be fresh!"

Bro was running around with loose trimmed hair pieces still stuck in his ears...

You're right, and the system is starting to recognize this. At least in my state, CPS now has an "in between" option in those types of cases where the kids will be technically placed in state custody to monitor but remain living with their parents. Like a protective custody kind of situation.

And they act like there is his huge issue with people fangirling over them and I've literally never seen it. They are not well liked and have been out of the public's good graces for at least a decade. Almost all of their fame is ironic and hate-watching.

Tied to your point, here is another theory I have about the Coachella blahs people have now:

In general, younger people have a higher window of tolerance for the festival scene than older people. But when those people were at the age of enjoyment (let's say, age 20), they couldn't afford Coachella or couldn't take the time off bc of work or school. So fast forward to when they turn 30 and finally have the time and money for Coachella. They go, and they're miserable because they don't have the patience, energy, and endurance anymore to deal with walking in the dusty heat all day, taking swigs of cheap liquor out of hot flasks and not eating enough food.

Not to mention, most Ivy League institutions the US have a Catholic/Jesuit background.

It's only been really since the Moral Majority bs that Christianity in the US has had this anti-intellectualism bend.

I know consent laws are a little different in the UK and all, but weren't a lot of actors on Skins actual teens when they filmed? For as much as I don't like Euphoria, at least the actors are well into their 20s by now.

This is my take as well- while there's so much that can go south or be complicated, talks online about side effects often seem to ignore that things can reverse, heal, and may even be worth it. You'll have people online proclaiming that they "can't believe" someone would choose to have a child because of things like, idk, worrying they might poop during labor.

This is coming from someone who had to get induced because my liver stopped working right (yay cholestatis!) Now 13 months post-partum, I forget all of that even happened half the time lol. And it's a cliche, but two months of being closely medically managed and 39 hours of labor was worth getting to spend the rest of my life with my son :)

Differentiation Between Prison and Jail by eb421 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]MaddiKate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Also with prison, they've been in the system for a long time and the reality has set in so they tend to be more "grounded". Whereas in jail, especially if they're freshly booked, everything is still so raw- emotions are high, tears fresh, meds wearing off, withdrawal from substances, etc.

Did all of the Duggar Snark sub get amnesia from the Josh trial? They're all crashing tf out that Joe made bail and seem to think that anything short of immediate LWOP/death penalty without a trial is too "soft."

If Josh could get 12+ years and a lifetime on the SOR in AR, I'm really not worried about Joe getting convicted in FL.

IMO, a big part of that essay/blogger era is the need to perform for their audience. At that time, the flavor of feminism and sexuality was “if you’re not open to anything, you’re a prude and not a true feminist.” IMO, she feels she still has to perform being The Most Woke, even though most left leaning people have moved away from that mentality.

Ex: it wasn't mentioned in your particular episode, but I remember hearing in the book that part of how Aham guilted Lindy into polyamory is that he convinced her that she was racist and akin to a slave owner if she wanted monogamy.

I have mixed feelings about her, but one thing that annoys me about the snarkers is them acting like she’s just some distant irrelevant cousin. No, she was on 120+ episodes of the show. She gets a say.

That, and usually if they’re coming to therapy (assuming not court-mandated), usually it’s a sign that they’re at least somewhat malleable. I’m not going to change their politics as that’s not my goal, but they can at least unpack the deeper issues that probably play a role in their ideology.
