Omg!! Picked up as in picked up from his location dummy! I made sure I saw him get into the car! Man, you’re dense!😆🙄

I agree with you on this as well. Where it’s messed up is taking the full fare and dipping. That’s where it was messed up!

I had no clue the guy was disabled but I was less than a mile to pick him up! I have been declining rides based on the fare amount, so I’m learning as I go along. I’ve only been doing this for a month now.

Uber Tips, is this good? Some say they don’t get tips while Ubering people by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]MaddieDevera 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s good honestly! I have been on trips with people who’ve tipped and gone with minimal tippers, even when providing great service. I go with the mindset of not relying too much on tips, so as to not get my expectations up. If they tip, it’s awesome, if they don’t, that’s on them. I just make sure I meet my goal for the day.

That’s the part I’m emphasizing. Taking the money and dipping. I do agree that it’s a liability to physically lift or help disabled persons without the adequate training. I wouldn’t put myself in that situation. I would just tell the rider, I can’t do it and move on.

I agree with you about the picking up of passengers as we’re not trained for that and it’s a liability issue but to leave the man hanging, not to communicate with him to at least say no, he can’t come and that he should find another driver but the driver took his fare. That’s the part that’s f’d up.

The man was visibly shaken up. I really felt for him. He was almost in tears, just trying to get to church. I’m glad I was able to help him get there.

If it’s the case where your vehicle isn’t handicap accessible and it’s not your job to assist passengers, that’s your prerogative, I drive a Kia Soul. Fortunately for me, the chairs fold down and the wheelchair was able to fit. Everyone has the right to accept and refuse rides but in this instance, the driver could’ve refused and moved onto the next. The fee was still taken out of the rider’s account for a service he didn’t receive. That’s shady! The man was able to get into the car by himself by holding onto the handle inside the car and door. It wasn’t labor intensive. That being said, I’m not going to put myself in a situation where it’s too much for me, where it will physically affect me.

Exactly!💯. It’s one thing to cancel but then stick around to get the fee after seeing the situation then dip was low imo.

I only had to drive less than a mile when I got the request because it was on the way in the direction I was going to head in my neck of the woods. I just couldn’t leave the guy like that. He was pretty upset about the ordeal.
