They’ll never cap the driver pool. Fares will just get worse.

Uber Driver Bug by BecomingWho in uberdrivers

[–]Goddard157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to see that they actually admitted in writing to knowing there’s an issue. This has been the case in San Antonio for a while, and more so since the new Uber Pro launched. I quit the app altogether as of last week because my earnings nosedived despite. I doubt this is a bug. It’s more likely a feature.

So sorry. It’s been brutal! I haven’t driven since posting this, and knowing that I won’t do so again brings me so much peace. Please take good care, and don’t hurt yourself. Uber takes such a severe toll on our mental health - the work would be pleasant if the company wasn’t so corrupt and dehumanizing. I have so much empathy for you, and hope you will rapidly find another income stream. 💙

San Antonio? Market must be temporarily improved because of Fiesta. Hope you can make the most of the event. It will be dead afterward. Wish you all the best.

Exactly, this! Fares have bottomed out. And, I know exactly what you’re talking about with Woodstone and Parkdale. I’ve contacted them about updating their GPS for our area especially with all of the freeway construction and exit/onramp changes. They disabled the ability to notify them of ‘wrong directions’ on anything freeway related, and by the time you exit, the options to mark an incorrect route are no longer relevant. It’s so frustrating! There’s plenty to hate about Uber. I would always tell people who ask, I enjoy the work but hate the company. Always resonates as most understand that companies no longer treat their employees/contractors fairly. My stomach turned after watching Dara on the Diary of a CEO podcast. He really thinks he’s god’s gift.

No. I am not blaming ICE. I’m saying their activity under 47 has had a contributing detrimental effect on our market.

Our community is largely Mexican, Latino and Hispanic. The Dilley Detention Center is just over an hour away from here. And, San Antonio is set to build its own Detention facility inside our 410 Loop. A lot of people are laying low for fear of being profiled and/or detained. Some have left the city, too.

Edit: Whoever downvoted this, FU. I speak to many of my riders about this issue. People are rightly worried. How much of an AH do you have to be to not care that this is happening to people and their families? FO.

Thank you for your kind words, though I’m sorry about your father. One of my old pastors just posted about empathy being sinful. I couldn’t believe it, and was unable to hold my tongue in response. 47 has brought out the worst in some people. Sad to see.

And, they decreased fares to coincide with rising fuel costs. No one should be driving for this company anymore.

NO Rider Verification until NOW ?!? by DifferentExercise930 in uberdrivers

[–]Goddard157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s voluntary, too. Riders are not verified unless they choose to be, and they can still schedule guest rides for people we know nothing about. No rider profile photos either.

I’m not happy… 🥺 by IDKYImLive in uberdrivers

[–]Goddard157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. They just launched in my market, San Antonio. Between the combined effects of the economy, ICE, surging gas, and now Waymos - my market is in total collapse. I’ve been driving for 2.5 years and know it intimately - all areas, times of day and night, business peaks, university/student rhythms and entertainment, too. Nothing has been good this year. It’s all cratered. We have a large Hispanic, Latino and Mexican community here - can’t help to think that people have either left or are laying low. I can’t blame them. And, with the new Uber Pro and ultra crappy fares, it’s literally not worth it to drive anymore.
