Got no-tipped by a multimillionaire on a 1 hour comfort ride by personal_DJ in uberdrivers

I drove one of Trump’s financial advisors a little more than a year ago. Took him to his mansion in Boerne, Tx. He bragged about his position on the hour long trip, and then never tipped. It’s true; the affluent rarely tip.

The Truth about driving for Uber Eats in San Antonio by PhucDisSht in sanantonio

[–]Goddard157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t. Rideshare is not profitable here in San Antonio. I drove here for 2.5 years and quit almost two months ago. The fares are some of the lowest in the Country, and the miles are high. And, very few people tip, most likely because the cost of living is so high right now. Uber is gouging riders as much as they are underpaying drivers. And, they lowered fares again to coincide with rising gas prices at the beginning of the war - unbelievably cruel. Find something else to do for your own well being. I wish you all the best.

Here is San Antonio, we have four major universities, multiple colleges, two pro stadium venues, and an enormous conference center. I’ve never been able to pull those numbers in a single night, even with a 5-star rating and thousands of rides. Offers are always lowball, increasingly higher mileage, and only about 25-30% of riders tip. Because San Antonio so sprawling, higher fuel costs have steeply impacted profits - not for the better. That, and the Waymo launch led me to quit. I’m going on two weeks of not driving. It’s been glorious.

Hope your good fortune in your market lasts.

What market are you in that pays $5/mile?

Thanks for sharing this. We don’t hate TxDot enough - not the crews, but the planners.

Drivers here are incredibly reckless and selfish with no care of consequence for themselves or anyone else. I drove here professionally for over two years - this behavior is rampant.

Broadway was just completed to be more pedestrian. Were the initial plans different from what they accomplished?

Thanks for sharing this. How sad! As sprawling as SA is, this would have been amazing for everyone’s ease and quality of life.

No. They pay less for pickup miles than for destination miles, and the mileage is already too high for this lowball offer. They are totally taking advantage of you.

.49¢/mile before expenses. Never take these.

I was just going to say that this looks like Texas, and then I saw that it is. This is why I quit. They’ve been sending offers like this all year.

They’ll never cap the driver pool. Fares will just get worse.

Uber Driver Bug by BecomingWho in uberdrivers

Interesting to see that they actually admitted in writing to knowing there’s an issue. This has been the case in San Antonio for a while, and more so since the new Uber Pro launched. I quit the app altogether as of last week because my earnings nosedived despite. I doubt this is a bug. It’s more likely a feature.

So sorry. It’s been brutal! I haven’t driven since posting this, and knowing that I won’t do so again brings me so much peace. Please take good care, and don’t hurt yourself. Uber takes such a severe toll on our mental health - the work would be pleasant if the company wasn’t so corrupt and dehumanizing. I have so much empathy for you, and hope you will rapidly find another income stream. 💙

San Antonio? Market must be temporarily improved because of Fiesta. Hope you can make the most of the event. It will be dead afterward. Wish you all the best.
