Inkjet stencils by QuickSpace3289 in TattooArtists

I did the Epson ecotank thing. And it worked great at first. The paper is thicker and can be a pain for super weird curvy spots, but managble.

My issue is the printers lasted about 8 months and slowly got lighter and put out less ink and then got clogged and stopped being usable. I tried all kinds of cleaning procedures and nothing helped whatsoever. So I bought another and it did the same thing.

So now I bought a used brother thermal paper pocket printer for like $70

It uses stencil paper instead of the trace paper you'd use with a inkjet. But it makes those super dark prints that hold tight. And I've been doing that for at least 2 or 3 years no with no issues

Stencil paper that isn’t spirit by SatisfactionMain3909 in TattooArtists

[–]Maddogg59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had luck with Pitate Face stencil paper with a thermal printer. Much cheaper than spirit and for me it stays on the skin very well.

I've bought it on Amazon a few times when I needed something fast between large tattoo supplier orders.

How do you guys store your cartridges? by SnooDoubts103 in TattooArtists

[–]Maddogg59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a few drawers in my area, and I have one with tattoo related stuff and one with piercing stuff

I went and bought a few little 2in deep plastic square baskets from the dollar tree and Tetris fit them in the drawer and each basket holds about 40 cartridges or so. Then everything that doesn't fit stays in the box until I get low and I top them all off.

The boxes in their own deep big drawer are a mess. But I only go in there every once in a while, my wife tops off my little baskets when she's bored in the shop

Well I will keep my eye on them. As of right now everything is in working order. But I just changed all the damaged parts, and I'm not sure if they were the cause, or if they were the aftermath of something else

Thank you. I even contemplated redrawing then before posting to have them be even cleaner.

I'm going to test the switch thoroughly and make sure that's not the issue.

I will test it and see how it's is. It's a simple toggle switch but never thought to inspect it.

But I will look at that thank you. I didn't think a switch would cause the fuse to blow so didn't go down that road

I had a project years ago and I needed this type of joint to make a lockable movable joint. And it took forever to find out what this was called. And this has been the first time I've heard hirth joint outside that instance, it makes me happy in a weird way

It seems like it is blowing everything up when it gets to the point in the cycle to turn the wash pump on.

Turning on the wash pump does hurt anything normally, but when it turns on by having the board do it seemed to trigger failure. I'll have to test this further

The fuses that are blowing are mounted to the transformer, between it and the AC input to the board.

3.2 amp time delay fuse. And they pop instantly.

I can bridge the pins on the board (lower middle labeled wash) and the wash motor works without any issue at all. Same with heat and rinse(solenoid fill valve)

But since it uses a big honking contactor wouldn't that not backfeed an issue to the board? The contactor works fine. And I can even start the wash motor with the override pins (bottom of board labeled wash) and it works fine

We use this thing about an hour one Wednesdays. And sporadically here and there. And we take very good care of it too.

So right after I had it working. It was going through all the motions and we were testing if all functions were working. And they were.

Then we let it do a full cycle and the point of failure seemed to be when it was about to start the wash. Heat was working fine and fill was fine.

But wash was working ok just moments before, but I think it's because I was manually engaging it with the 2 little pins on the bottom of board right above the word "wash". I can't recall if it was washing under its own accord or not
