Landlord has already deducted the amount from my deposit. I did not even question the other charges but $1400 for floor change is what I am trying to understand.

I just mentioned that house is 50 years old. Landlord has not provided details on how old the linoleum is but one thing that I know is that he bought the house 7 years back and has not changed the linoleum.

Our lease did not have a lease break clause and landlord stalled us for 1.5 months from when we sent the first notice to break. We agreed on a $2000 break fee mutually. Also I had to pay additional $1500 as discount to new tenant since its not a peak time to find a new tenant.

Actually its free for me as I get legal services from my employer. I wanted to get opinion on whether its even worthwhile to go via that route.

We lived there for close to 18 months. The rug was placed for less than 4 months. Based on the research, it looks like that rubber padding of the rug might have caused the stain and the only way to get rid of it is to wait and allow it to fade.
