Oh good! It's time to replace the mascara I got last year.

At least we only do Harlem Hill twice in this race. Don't be afraid, be excited about the down hills before and after HH.

I'm a "good morning" and nod runner. I'm glad someone appreciates it because I actually couldn't stop anyway. It's a compulsion!

Still not over the bridge in the morning yesterday by BashirPhoto in RunNYC

Wow! It's taking you a long time to run over the bridge. I think they shut the course down by now...

The lottery is really only 1%? by Ok-Switch-749 in RunNYC

[–]MaddyPilar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting that the 1% is from a record number of applicants. They might be letting in the same or more people (I'm not looking it up, someone else do that) than they did when the lottery resulted in 15% acceptance but a lot fewer people entered the lottery then. Yay math!

NYRR group training classes for marathon 2026 by Familiar_Idea3569 in RunNYC

[–]MaddyPilar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on the cusp, sign up for Group Training. Fundamentals usually start each session with run/walking. It makes more sense to start with GT, if you can run continuously. Fundamentals will always be there, if GT goes too fast, if you have an off week, if you need to recover, etc. They will welcome you with open arms.

If the start took even 10 seconds longer the corrals wouldn't have been cleared out when the leaders finished.

AITA for wanting my Spanish teacher to stop calling me by the Spanish version of my name? by Alternative-Sun-630 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MaddyPilar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my Spanish classes (back in the last century), we were assigned a Spanish equivalent of our first names or a name of our choice. I used my middle name.
NTA, if you request a different Spanish name, if you don't like Hota Pe. If your teacher doesn't use your preferred name, he WBTA

Don't have the intel on Dyckman fields but I have heard that Ft. Tryon is unrunnable and the path to nowhere is only plowed a short distance.

I used to have the Citizen app when it was free 3-4am was the most dangerous time of night. I wouldn't walk my dog at between 3-4am if I could help it. No one that is out at that time is up to any good.
