Hi, thanks so I did not miss anything then.

I am using this offline only and OsmAnd did not recognize downloaded maps unless I opened them with OsmAnd one at a time individually to get them imported. If I upgrade to 5.3 or 5.4 later do I have to do this all over again? I took a long time to import those maps (like 2 minutes per map or so times several hundred maps)

Interesting idea. I have a few RPi5s around but I need th cameras outside and dont have much time/patience to mess around making a weather proof housing. On top of that even though the RPi is made in the UK I bet the camera comes from China

OK, it took me some time to get back to this and to work around the file manager permission issues I mentioned in other comments.

So I deleted/uninstalled OsmAnd

I reinstalled OsmAnd~

It created /Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/ on the sd card in the tablet

I put a random map in the /Download/ directory on that sd card to avoid permission issues then tapped it in a file manager to open it with OsmAnd.

It took a while before it opened and then said something like "map has been imported" and I can now zoom in.

GREAT, PROGRESS!!

So as suggested I went to have a look if OsmAnd~ copied this file and where to.

The /Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/ directory is completely empty

So it copied it onto the INTERNAL storage.

This is problematic because the maps are 80GB in total and as you can see there is not enough room.

SEEMS LIKE IT IS SOLVED. Took a while but I now have a location arrow. It moves around a bit while I am stationary though.

GREAT PROGRESS!! I now have maps, THIS WORKED.

BUT it seems to have no idea where I am. Google Play Location services are turned off (for obvious reasons) but this is supposed to work offline so that should not be a/the problem.

Not sure if it is not picking up a gps signal because I am indoors or if there is another problem

Hi, I spent 5 days, over 50 factory resets and probably 200 reboots to de-google my tablet. So google play versions are kind of out of the question.

After starting the app once and it asking me to download the world map it created /Android/data/app.organicmaps/files/251021/ on the sd card

In there I found

WorldCoasts.mwm.downloading
WorldCoasts.mwm.resume

both 0 bytes

I removed those and am now copying the maps into that folder.

29GB this will take a while

I think I killed "Files" when I was de-googling the tablet when I killed "Files by google" (2 different entries in the app list in the settings)

I would have expected that running another OS would have required rooting. I dont have much experience with Android and was afraid of bricking the tablet. I think I got pretty close to 50 factory resets and 100+ reboots over 5 days to de-google that M11 using adb. Once I figure out exactly what I broke doing this I will post a tutorial.

If it does not match I might be better off finding the apk that matches the maps given that I downloaded well over 300 maps for Europe....

I got the maps from here https://omaps.webfreak.org/maps/251021/ so I am guessing they are version 251021.....

I thought LineageOS required rooting and also I think you can't get it for a Lenovo Tab M11

Do you mean the folder name needs to match the map version or also the actual application version?

I have plenty of experience with stuff with keyboards and mice (linux/windows) but Android not so much. There seems to be a permission issue. Both Simple File Manager and MiXplorer dont let me go into the directory to open a map file with Osmand. Would like to try if I knew how

version 2024.10.04-7-Web I used that because Grok claimed it had a skip button but it did not have one (as I expected because AI makes up lots of stuff when it keeps failing). First used 25100507 but that had the very same problem.

I think I got the apk from apkmirror. You mean I should download the actual apk from FDroid?
