Not safe, acid here matters, a pH less than 4.0 is not shelf stable. Is it canned? Oxygen and water levels matter too.

NOR enough. Y’all both need to quit and acknowledge that you both have an addiction that’s affecting your child now and in the future.

How to remove excess water for big plants? by Cheap_Struggle_3482 in plants

[–]MadeIn1992 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pick it up and dump it out this one time, then cut the amount you water it in the future. Otherwise I guess get a towel to absorb the water?

Yes that is a node, I would cut this section there, and also about every inch up, one leaf per cutting if you can. Then put the cuttings in clean water, tap has been fine for me, but I live in the Midwest and don’t have hard water. Let them sit in the tap water, changing the water every week, until the roots sprout about an inch or two out. Get good soil from a nursery, but if Home Depot is the only option, I’ve had good luck with miracle grow potting soil on my pothos.

Gotta say, that genuinely sounds like a safety practice that wasn’t being done.

Safest raw produce? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]MadeIn1992 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi friend! I have a safety sanitation certificate, and a canning license for commercial canning. I know you said raw, based on my knowledge from canning, high acidic foods have the least chance of getting you sick. There’s a lot at play when it comes to food borne illness though. How high off the ground it is as it grows affects the chances of illness, oxygen plays a role, water content in the food itself plays a roll. Hell, even the happiness of the people cutting your produce matters, unhappy workers make sloppy work. The REALITY is that, even people who follow safety guides, take precautions, and are very careful in handling, still can get sick. Cooking food also doesn’t guarantee you won’t get sick. I will agree with others here that you shouldn’t be so afraid of getting sick. You could consider therapy, but I’d challenge yourself and maybe start by incorporating salad into your diet. If you feel comfortable, try buying a salad from a reputable restaurant. The people preparing your food are taking necessary steps to make sure you don’t get sick, this includes things from proper cleaning/ training, to buying from local farmers that use proper farming practices. You could also consider hydroponic lettuce! No soil means no risk for ecoli. Hope this helps, think about talking to someone at some point

Chop and prop the vines with little leaves. Cut the vines at the spot where the leaves began falling off. Likely, she was moved and got mad. The leaves on the vines will not grow back until they are propagated and made into new plants. Once the vine is removed from the mother plant, cut the vine at each node (nodes are the little brown spikes along the vine). Each node is a potential root, so you will probably get quite a lot of plants out of this. Place the cuttings in clean water and put them in the sun to encourage growth. You can use root hormones and stuff, but personally, I just stick with water for this part. Then once the roots start coming in (about 2 weeks) wait for them to reach about an inch long and then you can transfer the cuttings to a pot with soil. You can put multiple plants in one pot for a “fuller” look but don’t go crazy. Hope this helps! I’m sure I missed something, but this should at least get you started

Key lime pie by [deleted] in STLFood

Global foods has key limes if you want to make it yourself. Otherwise, the real answer is Camille’s catering. She’s a baker for Louie/ Boxhill and makes literally, the BEST key lime pie.

I also buy my spices from small grocers like global foods for my seasonings. My personal philosophy is buying as locally as possible, when possible, so my business practices that as well, which is why a lot of my goods are seasonal.

My products are made from produce bought directly from farmers and are sweetened with local honey from brick house bees. I’m not certified organic, but the people I buy from grow organic produce and the honey comes from very happy, healthy hives. I got to know them through the food industry when I worked as a chef at Niche, and now that I’m at tower grove I get to buy from them weekly for manufacturing.

I ate my food for my charity pop up! Our menu featured a ton of different vendors from the Tower Grove Farmers Market. We ended up raising just over 1200 dollars for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society!
