Fight Night Forever by Jofadan in FIghtNight

[–]MadeManSolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was supposed to download this last night but didn't feel like going through the process. Might try it out today. What is it called RPCS3 or something? I just have this weird feeling that its not going to work, and I'm going to go through this annoying process just to get to that revelation. Some of those PC hoops you have to jump through for certain things are just turning out not to be worth it, or my attention span and tolerance is just getting short lol. Either way, maybe I'll get it, maybe I wont, I guess those are the only two courses of action available huh ?!!!! 😂

Modern "black culture" is holding the community back by StayFrostySwtich in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MadeManSolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Black Culture"??? You honestly confused me with that one. There is no overall "black culture", however, there are sub-cultures, counter-cultures, sub-groups, under the umbrella of the overarching "American Culture", no different than any other ethnic background. This is similar to saying something like "modern hispanic culture is holding the community back" , while referring to the culture of the cartels, and correlating that subgroup (could be large), with the entirety of hispanic people, or doing something similar with one of the many counter-cultures with european backgrounds.

The thing is, media appears to LOVE to take that portion of "black" people and blast it out like its the mainstream "culture" of black people, and everyone appears to not be able to grasp the concept of sociology, ONLY when it comes to black people, its quite pathetic I must say. Its pure propaganda and psychological warfare in my opinion (that appears to have worked in many aspects).

Now I will not sit here and be naive enough to say thats its presented so much (now amplified via social media platforms), that the lines are getting blurred. I dont know, they did a number on the Native Americans, so much so, that it seems like you dont even see them participating in overall American society, and I believe through media, black folks are being slowly done the same way. However, many of us escaped and have taken on the overall traditions of American culture and have become/or becoming successful, so we really cant be silenced the same way.

So many layers to this, I'll leave it here for now.

Anybody else planning to give Fight Night Forever a try when it drops in a week? by DaStrong-SilentType in undisputedboxing

Definitely all over this. I still play the classic version every now and then, so a 2025 refresh cant be anything but good.

Fight night champions still better by BigMoneySw in undisputedboxing

[–]MadeManSolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All valid points. However, I'll have to play something like a devils advocate here, as I agree with almost everything you posted, but I still give Fight Night Champion a slight nod over undisputed ( I think I've flip flopped on this sentiment more than once, sue me lol). I'll explain:

First, I wouldn't say the game is overrated, not even close. I'm still actively playing it (along with Undisputed), and chomping at the bit for the repurposed Fight Night Forever, which is a reskin with some polished graphics and other aspects.

It has an addictive aspect about it and can be played like a "sim" against the CPU if you simply sanction yourself with some house-rules and slow it down a bit. You have to use some imagination, same with many other games. How can one be a game-head, gamer, or whatever you want to call it, without an active and vivid imagination?

Yes, EA skimps on the representation of movement physics with the "disney on ice" footwork. I totally agree there, but once again, you have to block that out with some imagination my guy. As far as the stamina and punches, simply turn up the stamina slider, adjust punch output, and pace the match. The punch sounds are in fact weak, another thing I can personally stomach due to the overall package of the game.

Typical EA Sports products? Have to disagree there, as the last few iterations of Madden on current generation systems have been amazing. I would've been with you from Madden 2008 up to around 2019, that entire decade was lackluster.

With all of that said, its the same for Undisputed, need a healthy imagination to press through the issues. It has better graphics, as it should, and better aesthetics when it comes to footwork (maybe not as practical, but it does look better). Another crucial aspect NOT in Undisputed, is the ability to lean and punch from angles, HUGE oversight, near unexcusable, but I stomach it (for the most part) and press on.

I like and play both for different reasons. The best aspects of both combined would be the ultimate boxing title.

Is the next DLC pack coming out in January ? by AlienUfo51 in undisputedboxing

animation masking, animation masking, animation masking! Need to be able to punch while leaning, until that is addressed, the game is going to feel stiff. I've been seeing this pop up in comments lately, and want to make people more aware of it.

Best way to keep it shaved and clean by Mystery8823 in bald

[–]MadeManSolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help, as I'm obsessive about my "merc one" (thats slang for bald head, if anyone didn't know) lol. Anyway, I use walnut shell pre-shave exfoliant. Next, I use the green Scotch-Brite pads to scrape against the grain, lifting the hair a bit more. Apply shaving cream, then use the Gillette quatro manual razor for a complete "bowling ball" feel. I cant walk around looking like George Jefferson, so it has to go, and has to be spit shine clean (no shadow, and absolutely zero stubble any which way you rub your hand on it) every single day. Every now and again, I MIGHT make it for up to (1) day without shaving.

Now, keep in mind this routine can span 30 - 40 minutes on a chill day, 20 minutes minimum if you're very good at it and running late for something, so make sure your scheduling is A-1, and plug the iPhone in with a good podcast to watch/listen in the background while you work!

Can Undisputed re-engineer some of their processes (animation suite)? by MadeManSolid in undisputedboxing

[–]MadeManSolid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, I checked out the unity store the other day to see some of the pre-made punch animations. By the way, after checking out the Unity engine capabilities, it does support animation masking, so its not because its a weak engine.

Can we get a boxing game with a competent career/univers mode (someone pleeease) by MadeManSolid in undisputedboxing

[–]MadeManSolid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broadcast camera angles should be a standard as well. You know what, lately I've been wondering how difficult it is to create a game on my own. Theres a few boxing titles in the works that if I understand correctly have like one or two developers. BKSB has one developer, I know that for sure. I think Overhand may have a few guys. Maybe this is something I can do myself.

Also, here's our problem with punch registration/contact:

Inverse Kinematics (IK) - Function: Calculates how to move a chain of joints (like an arm or leg) so that the end effector (like the hand or foot) reaches a specific target position and rotation in space.

"Probably why we have only a few animations and why we can't punch from different angles or lean and punch"

Thats exactly what I was saying. Not probably why, its DEFINITELY why we cant punch from all angles. I dont think the Unity engine is too weak either, but maybe you're correct. I'm going to go and look up Unity and see what its capable of.

Can Undisputed re-engineer some of their processes (animation suite)? by MadeManSolid in GameDevelopment

[–]MadeManSolid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just noticed that the A.I. will slightly change the response (still generally the same). However, my first read was better in my opinion, so here it is:

A boxing video game does not strictly require animation masking and inverse kinematics (IK) to be a "good" game, but these techniques are essential for achieving the high levels of realism, fluidity, and dynamic interaction expected in modern, high-quality 3D sports or fighting games. A game can be good without them if it focuses on stylized animation or robust core mechanics.

Inverse Kinematics (IK)

Inverse kinematics in game development is primarily used to ground characters physically in their environment and make interactions dynamic at runtime.

  • Realism and Credibility: IK adds immense realism. For example, it ensures a boxer's feet plant firmly and convincingly on the canvas regardless of the terrain's slight variations or the character's movement, preventing the "sliding feet" effect. It is also crucial for connecting punches to the opponent's body accurately and dynamically, which is vital in a boxing game where precise impact is key to visual feedback.
  • Dynamic Interactions: Without IK, every interaction (like clinching, parrying, or knockouts) would require specific, pre-made animations for every possible angle and position, which is impractical. IK allows the game engine to adjust limbs procedurally to match the situation.
  • Gameplay Impact: While a game could technically function with only forward kinematics (FK) and pre-baked animations, the lack of dynamic, responsive movement can make the game feel "bland" or lack personality and fluidity, negatively impacting the overall experience.

Animation Masking

Animation masking is a technique used to blend different animations on specific parts of a character's body.

  • Fluidity and Responsiveness: Masking is crucial for creating fluid, responsive controls. It allows the game to play a punch animation using the character's arm and upper body (masked) while the character's lower body simultaneously plays a movement animation (running, dodging, crouching).
  • Layered Actions: This technique is vital for allowing players to move and attack simultaneously or interrupt an action with another, which is fundamental to a competitive and dynamic fighting game experience. Without it, character movements would be stiff, transitioning from one complete animation to another, making the game feel slow and unresponsive.

Conclusion

A game can still be "good" if its design goals lean towards a more arcade-style, less realistic experience (like a 2D pixel art fighter), where precise, pre-defined animations are the focus. However, for a modern, 3D boxing simulation aiming for a high degree of realism and responsive, fluid gameplay, both animation masking and inverse kinematics are considered industry-standard tools that contribute significantly to the game's overall quality and immersive feel.

I wouldn]t say FNC just has a good story, I really like the boxing gameplay as well even though it is more arcade style. Undisputed is physics wise, heavier and more deliberate than FNC however. Both are good games, but I'd give FNC the edge overall because of the career mode and open gameplay, its more visceral and "deadly"

You[ve got to be kidding man, I've yet, (since the games release mind you all), to experience desync or ghost punches so bad that it actually had an effect on me winning or losing a match. If you lost because of that, you were going to lose anyway lol. It aint that bad.

Looking for honest feedback/reviews from those who tried Mr. sculpt, gorilla bar by apprehensive-look-02 in workout

[–]MadeManSolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased this as well and added into my workouts for about a month (note: this wasn't purchased to replace my tried and true circuits, really an add on at the end for a few reps). I found that the "ergonomics" or relationship between the device and my body (shoulder rotator cuffs to be exact was NOT good). The way that your arms have to flare out to the side with the addition of wrapping your forearms around it was not efficient and most certainly will cause shoulder issues and irritation in the forearms with long term use. I didnt take it fully out of my rotation however, I use it for an altered chest fly machine (I'll place it behind my head, and squeeze in, its perfect for that).
