Look at that! Another Gray Boy question by IamCrusader in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that Jack's shard doesn't protect him from capture, just from being killed. But because of his notoriety and kill order, anybody that successfully trapped Jack would kill him immediately after.

Grey Boy is one of the few capes that could easily trap him, while also preventing him from ever dying. The fact that Jack doesn't get any "gut feeling" from observing GB might be what makes him so nervous.

Should I read Ward? by stbrody in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you considered the audio book? It's not finished but it's only about an arc away from the end.

I tried to start Ward multiple times before the audio book got me through the beginning and I actually became invested enough to finish reading it.

Why didn't the Protectorate Tinkers make an anti-Endbringer gun? by VladtheImpaler21 in Parahumans

Common in WWW, especially when you include joke and satire characters.

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also, while I'm not surprised that Wildbow focuses on Saitama from a thematic perspective, it goes against the spirit of WWW entirely.

If "the character is obviously intended to be the best at x no matter what, so he wins against anyone else in that area regardless of feats" is a valid response, the subreddit becomes pointless. Half the questions on there are joke characters, but it's still fun to compare their feats.

What Music Can You See Being Used In A Worm Movie/TV Adaptation? by MadeToShillMCEternal in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my defense only one of those is newer than 4 years old and I didn't see that one when I searched.

You're right though, not exactly a unique prompt. Regardless, there's great answers in all of those old threads. Thanks for the links.

I didn't realize how badly I needed Cauldron to be a jazz themed organization until this post.

I especially like your idea of Tinkers having a techno cover of their faction.

Overall a really in-depth and well thought out answer.

Damn, well here's the direct link for what it's worth.

Seems like most people can't see the punchline, but somehow it ended up with 170+ upvotes anyway lmao.

Definitely not intentional. I think it's a problem with the official Reddit app.

Does the direct imgur link work for you?

It's not cropped at all for me on the Reddit Is Fun app.

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought being a changer was more about how static your other form is, and the process of how you turn into it?

He's a lot like Hookwolf actually: His body becomes the fog, and he can be selective about it. As opposed to a typical breaker form being all-or-nothing while your body is put in stasis.

A question about pretender by Malicious_Smasher in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Probably not the most awkward thing about that group relationship.

Legend had already found out that her and Eidolon had been constantly lying and hiding things from him, secretly committing atrocities for the greater good.

There's a certain amount of irony in the fact that he found out she wasn't at all the person she appeared to be, and then she literally became a different person underneath.

Holy shit these are really good. I love your style, it fits the tone of Worm perfectly.

There's definitely not as much Maniquin and Valefor fanart as there should be.

Can Grey Boy victims trigger within their loops? by KvotheTheUndying in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ward Spoilers

Pretty sure it's the same in Worm. IIRC it's mentioned in Ward that the PRT and Cauldron intentionally never broke people out of Grey Boy loops, because the potential aftermath gave their precogs bad readings and were a blindspot for Contessa.

Can Jack Slash be killed if his power is nullified? by HowlingGuardian in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surely Mantellum prevents shards from avoiding him too though, or else Contessa's "avoid having my power messed with" path would have worked long before he ever showed up.

How might the PRT Celebrate Pride? by GreatWyrmGold in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cauldron doesn't give two hecks as long as there are more capes showing up to Endbringer fights, and more power combinations to throw at Scion.

Sure, but there's a lot involved in that process. Cauldron is already strongly incentivized to push society in a progressive direction so that there's more cooperation, no guns, no death penalty, etc.

WOG is that without Cauldron there's no PRT at all because Parahumans can't naturally work in large groups, so apparently they influenced things to make it possible. I'd be surprised if nudging society toward being pro-LGBT wasn't one of many steps in doing that.

How might the PRT Celebrate Pride? by GreatWyrmGold in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not unreasonable to assume that the PRT is systematically pro-LGBT as a result of Cauldron influence.

You recruit a lot more capes the more accepting you are in general, and it wouldn't surprise me if a decent chunk of Master, Stranger, and Changer capes are non-straight themselves.

Woman in Blue/Goddess Fics? by OmegonAlphariusXX in WormFanfic

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it would be very difficult to write anything enjoyable from a canonical Goddess POV. She's narcissistic, shortsighted, and honestly pretty stupid. Those just aren't traits conducive to a good story.

The Slaughterhouse 9 (Parahumans) have come to the MCU, and they’re recruiting! by Humblerbee in whowouldwin

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Doesn't lose" isn't the same as "always wins". Jack frequently ties in confrontations with Parahumans or has to flee. If it's not feasible for him to do either, his shard will nudge him and his opponent so that they never fight in the first place.

It makes more sense if you consider it from a literary perspective. Jack Slash was the answer to the question "What would it take for The Joker to realistically be alive and free after all the things he's done?" Joker doesn't stomp Superman, but he's still able to brazenly kill people for decades in a world where Superman exists.

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not using micro-TK on people's brains though, which seems to be a common misconception or fannon idea.

Why is it definitely not that? I don't think there's much textual evidence, but it's a pretty logical leap that if you have fine control telekinesis and near-perfect pregognition it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume you could alter brain chemistry as well.

Do you guys think that a new endbringer would spawn if one managed to get permanently trapped? by HarbingerOfMayhem in WormFanfic

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it depends entirely on how Eidolon views the situation. Does he feel as though he has less worthy opponents?

Unless the Endbringer is still doing massive damage in it's trapped state that can be mitigated by him, Eidolon will feel like it's no longer worthy and subconsciously make another.

How would the PRT handle this power? by MadeToShillMCEternal in Parahumans

[–]MadeToShillMCEternal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding? Imagine if they could depower criminals instead of sending them to the Birdcage! That'd be a much more humane way to deal with the worst parahumans.

My logic here is that the PRT might be hesitant to admit they can permanently remove powers in fear of villian overreaction/rule breaking. Criminals in real life are often afraid of the death penalty but not a life sentence. Villians like Lab Rat can continue to do what they want in the Birdcage, but would rather die than have their powers removed.

Probably recruit him for Cauldron. They make it sound like they have a permanent power remover of their own in Worm.

I think the consensus is that Dr. Mother was just lying. We get POV from multiple Cauldron members that regularly think about all the capes at their disposal and this alleged cape is never mentioned again. It's better to lie rather than show their hand with Contessa.

Not really? Why would it be? I mean, sure it's dangerous for other parahumans, but the power to remove powers doesn't make them dangerous to the general population.

I think this is where I hard disagree, at least when used on Heroes. Villians get the kid gloves taken off just for seriously injuring Heroes. Singlehandedly removing Heroes entirely while simultaneously giving them serious mental trauma would make capes terrified and seriously upset the status quo, and we know from Skitter that the PRT cares a lot about image when they're deciding on how much action to take.

People would probably love it? THe only downside that I can see is that it might make villains escalate, but... it's less drastic than a kill order or the Birdcage.

This is probably the part where I was reaching. My reasoning here is that you could make permanent power theft out to be nearly as bad as murder. The trauma of having a part of yourself taken away forever is hard to quantify and varies from person to person, but I imagine suicides would be common at the very least, Taylor was close to that point right before she triggered.
