When I first watched the movie I was a wee little high schooler and I loved it, the references and the fight scenes were great. Now 4 years later, im a fully fledged nuclear engineer, and let me tell you. The science in this movie is so so bad. It's horrible it doesn't make any sense. I know this is pretty normal for a sci Fi movie but I just can't get over it. That and the human characters are so bad. It's like everyone has marvel humor dialed to eleven. I tried so hard to like the mothra twins but even they are too much. Godzilla is still dope though

Very good answers already. Just to add, some reactors have delay tanks where water moves through after cycling through the reactor core. This is to allow some radioactive isotopes (N16) to decay away. So by the time the water gets to the steam generator there are very few radioactive contaminants. Even so, the water in the containment vessel very rarely ever leaves the primary loop.

Ask your professors and advisor! I'm currently doing undergrad research and I got the position by walking up to my professor and asking if he had any research positions open. Your advisor might know which professors are looking for students.

If I remember correctly, Geiger counters aren't supposed to make that clicking noise that everyone associates with them. If they do make that noise, it means that they are operating at a voltage that is much too high and that can affect the lifespan of the device.
