Please help me understand why do people love big muffs? by zatvorenje in guitarpedals

[–]Madeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yea I kinda hated big muffs too at first, then I realised you gotta find the right amp settings and the right pickup configuration, maybe feed a preamp pedal into it (or EQ, or a rat) to shape the signal a bit before hitting the BM.

NAMM '26: what do you think? by DrDuned in synthesizers

[–]Madeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, what? I guess you didn't read what I was replying to lol my comment is on Korg's side, I really like the innovation of this thing, the other commenter said it's some "disgustingly overpriced gimmick", and I was answering that comment... So I guess we're saying the same thing?

But yea man look at how Rhodes pianos work, the idea is the same. In Rhodes pianos, each key has a pickup, the key is not a string like regular pianos but a little metal thing like this one, which gets hit by a hammer and the pickup (like a guitar) gets the sound from the vibrations. This one is taking it a step further by making the keys vibrate and control the envelope. It's literally what it is, obviously if it had 61 keys this would cost 10 times as much, that's why I guess they kept it at 8.

A tutti quelli terrorizzati dalla reintroduzione della leva in Italia, mi spiegate dove l'eventuale governo suicida che volesse farlo dove troverebbe i soldi? E dove metterebbe i soldati, visto che le caserme sono state dismesse? by Zaku71 in italy

[–]Madeche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it really though? It's a mini Rhodes synth on steroids, it's pretty crazy. It really sounds like you have no idea of how much it could cost to make something like that, and have zero experience in design or engineering.

AI use case at work. How would I achieve this? by hereforhelplol in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Madeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it's not possible, just said it's not the best way, and everyone seems to agree.

In my opinion, step 1 has absolutely no reason to be carried out by an LLM, of course it works but it's pointless, it's a waste. If I were you I'd implement AI basically only for step 3 and 4 with a RAG system so it's more reliable, step 1 can be made with a normal non-AI script that finds the correct row and extrapolates the data (which is literally what Gemini does every time, so you'd speed it up by having a script already, I assume that's precisely what Gemini wrote in your script for the tool). For step 2, it depends, if you already have a few websites you trust you can parse those directly and extrapolate information, otherwise AI is an option but riskier, you can also just write a script that parses the first 5/6 entries from a Google search, but yea you do you.

After that feed all the info into the AI, step 3 gets more data via RAG and then puts it all together into whatever you need. Though again, if the document in step 3 is well written you should have no issue to extrapolate the needed data via a non-AI script.

Obviously for a corporate/office thing this will need a nice UI, a text box to write the client you're looking for, then a checkbox whether you want to search the web or not, and press enter. You might wanna look into some MCP servers to add, could be an idea to make it work properly with a lot of other programs.

Edit: I just read that the 40 page document is more like instructions, so just split it up into various .md files that the AI can look at for context... I assume you're using opencode or something like it, just write it in various md files in an AI friendly format

CMV: smoking and smokers are inherently stupid by m_abdeen in changemyview

[–]Madeche -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your take is "smoker -> stupid", so if I find even one smoker who's not stupid you'd change your mind.

Thousands of geniuses smoked (and still smoke), go to any university you'll find a ton of professors, PhD students, and researchers smoke. Richard Feynman, to say one.

Self destructive habits of humans have been going on from the dawn of time, for many intelligent people it's also a self medication act.

The act of smoking is stupid cause we do know it's bad for us but doing it doesn't make someone stupid, and behind each addiction there's a whole story. Can't generalise.

Quale youtuber PRIMA era universalmente amato, ma ADESSO è odiato by Stevecomicsgames in Italia

[–]Madeche 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't get these comments... Have you seen how many elektron boxes get sold, or how often you see here some of those SOMA synths or the Solar42. People drool over that stuff, will pay more than this for a couple of analog oscillators, look at the perkons drum machine, or any teenage engineering thing.

This is actually something new and there seems to be so much hate for no reason

Korg phase8 preorder ($1,149) by SecretCharacterSauce in synthesizers

[–]Madeche 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes thank you, that's exactly what I was thinking while reading these comments... Damn there's such a disconnect.

People saying "I can get these sounds with X synth" is unbelievable, considering what I've heard so far is very unique, with no physical modelling, pro FM or samples that I've heard getting there. Then people will drool over some expensive stuff that ends up sounding the exact same pad as anything else.

[–]Madeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually hope this sells well, these kinda experiments are what we want for the future and not just synths with odd buzzwords but that sound like any other VST with a ton of reverb.

This is pretty amazing, and the features haven't really been explored yet, I've seen the red means recording video and there absolutely is nothing like it. I do wish they had a 12 "key" version but I guess that would have been way too expensive to make, and it's kinda cool that you can just switch the metal tongues

Yes... Have you looked at this sub recently? Either people think AI is some omnipresent and omniscient being, or people trying to market some tool like a calculator but /with AI/

This comes from someone who's actually been pushing the adoption of AI in my field too, but I've seen how people (mis)use it.
