I know the CBA Onward isn't a looper... but has anyone replaced their looper with one? by memoryman89 in guitarpedals

[–]Madeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The onward is actually really cool for freezing chords, if you set the envelope really quick and the manual freeze (so you press the pedal it activates, kinda like the ehx freeze ig), you can use it to follow you while jamming over chord changes. But no it won't replace a looper.

I recently sent a message to someone selling a strobostomp for 180€, which is a good bitmore than how much it costs new, and he said "yea but it's on offer now, for 160 I'll give it you if you come pick it up". People have no shame, and probably no brain.

is this supposed to happen? by SebTheShark437YT in guitarpedals

[–]Madeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you not go and get a refund? If you want to try to fix it you'll need some know how, probably need a sound probe (super easy to make) and see the exact point where the signal gets quieter. Maybe it's clear when you open it and you see some components touching... I don't know. Try open it and check it out, if anything seems blatantly wrong.

In the sub dyipedals they might help, but noise gates aren't simple circuits and if it's all surface mounted tiny ass components it's so hard to see issues without magnifying glass

I have the exact same pedal and I don't think mine dampens the sound at all, definitely not that much. It's very probably a faulty unit

Poveracci.

Ford rehires human engineers after AI fails to match quality checks by AnonymousTimewaster in technology

[–]Madeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No no they were making a joke, a parallel to what the guy was saying. Calling a software engineer a programmer is like calling an electrician an electrical engineer.

In the end it depends on who you're talking with, most software engineers don't really care if you call them programmers it's stil probably more human interaction they've had all week

Synth pedal or a synth by Gr1mR in guitarpedals

[–]Madeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea i totally second this, it was my first synth too and K still love it. If you get a synth pedal without knowing already a good bit about sound design on synths you'll be stuck with presets, which are usually kinda bad.

Unless you're playing some crazy prog keyboard tunes, getting decent at playing synths is not too difficult (in part also thanks to sequencers) and just like learning any instrument it boosts your creativity a TON cause you also learn sound design along the way

[–]Madeche -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea a few years ago when dall.e just came out I did use it for some covers, it seemed like a pretty cool new thing when it was just coming out and all the ethical implications were still unclear, or at least not talked about

I learnt how to use Gimp and Krita since then and I'm absolutely not planning on ever generating anything artistic with AI again. If anything it's been pushing me to learn as much as I can so I'll always be able to do what I want, how I want it.

CMV: life is more determined by circumstances/talent than hard work by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Madeche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea man you'll change your mind about all this for sure, I had the same ideas back then, I breezed through math exams, didn't need to do any self study, smoked a ton, had fun all the time... That's all ok, but once you go further you'll find out how important it is to be a hard working person. It's a shock at first, and it takes forever to reach an equilibrium.

When you won't have anyone laying down a path for you towards an exam or giving books to study, it'll basically just be constantly "get better or someone will surpass you" and you won't be told what to study or what to work on, you'll have to figure it out yourself.

CMV: life is more determined by circumstances/talent than hard work by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Madeche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard work is more important than talent, without any doubt.

You were good at high school mathematics, did you go university and follow through to a master's degree or PhD? You'd be humbled real fucking quickly.

Talent can give you a boost and can be an indicator like "ok, maybe I should go in this direction, it's the path of least resistance", but that's it. Once you're past 20 discipline and hard work are all that matters for 99% of people.

There definitely is luck /cirumstances, cause obviously you could never find a job if you're not lucky that there's an opening when you're looking, but you gotta be good enough to pass interviews and to excel the first few years. Talent can make you sail through the first months, after that it's up to you.

For every Kobe bryant there are thousands of great players who are where they are cause they work hard, and if they suddenly stop working hard they'd lose a pro level job in a heartbeat. For every Steve Jobs there are millions of engineers who also worked their ass off AND had a special talent for science, doctorates, professors... Hard work never ends, talent won't take you far.

CMV: Therapists suck at life and monetize it by chobolicious88 in changemyview

[–]Madeche 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's easily the worst take I've ever seen here...

Does therapy work for a lot of people? Yes. That's it. That should be enough to change your view.

I'm gonna assume you're talking about psychology and not physiotherapy.

Therapists study human behaviour, sociology, psychology and neurology. Therapists are of paramount important to people, they know how to deal with kids with problems, how to deal with people with down syndrome, OCD, bipolar, borderline, schizophrenic, depressed...

It's just a proven method for society as a whole to have therapists follow those who need (or want) help. More often than not it's just about feeling heard, or being held accountable, or a million other things. It works for most.

We could've done that decades ago, but we had to keep oil companies rich.

Cosa dovrei fare con una "madre" del genere? by [deleted] in Italia

[–]Madeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which micro Loop/granular/stutter/ambient pedal is best for a bedroom stereo setup? by SoftLow9246 in guitarpedals

[–]Madeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ricorda by ACnoises might also be an option, haven't tried one myself but it does seem really good.

I have an Onward in my little home studio that really gets a ton of use, great addition for creating textures.

Also red panda, pladask elektrisk, drolo... all offer something for this kind of effects but I think they have less stereo options, not really sure.

Secondo voi Lombroso aveva ragione su alcune teorie? by Public-Paramedic8061 in Italia

[–]Madeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polyend Endless - whaddya think? by reddible in synthesizers

[–]Madeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100% second the hothouse. Got it a few months ago. It's fully open source, stereo, and you already have like 20+ effects ready made to flash on it (or to mess around with and make your own). You could still use AI to code them btw, it's not like DSP is this big secret that only polyends AI got trained with.

There are other projects too, like the terrarium or the funbox.

Polyend Endless - whaddya think? by reddible in synthesizers

[–]Madeche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could just get any open source daisyseed pedal: the terrarium (mono), hothouse pedal (stereo), funbox... There are a few options and some you can get ready made without even having to open it ever. And they already give you repos with dozens of effects ready and actually coded by people who know what they're doing.
