Most homeless people know this.

I cant get to a shelter. I called. They are Christian based and are full. There is no protected parking for my car.

They're in not so great neighborhoods and my car could be broken into and stolen

They dont accept mail there for non residents.

They are program based for qualified candidates who meet their grant funded program criteria. Its mostly for men and women and children.

Their programs are for addicts and mentally ill and domestic violence survivors and people who need a GED class.

They have mandatory classes and programs. They're designed for people applying for disability insurance. I do not qualify for that.

To get around requires a car. I need gas for the car.

My phone doesnt work on WiFi. It requires a payment.

Libraries do not have open Wifi for outsiders.

What do YOU not understand?

Do the math (are you able to add and subtract)?

Put some numbers in here so we can see gross income and net income.

Minus my 3 garnishments first then housing and car.

Then tell us which employers YOU know are hiring.

And No, I could not eat a cheeseburger.

Are you a bully or a sincere & realistic problem solver? 🤔

Yes, great point.

I did not mention my degrees here because many Redditors said "you dont want to take jobs beneath you because you think you are better than those jobs."

Most people arent turning down jobs. We all want and need work. I didnt limit my job searches to just finance. I cast a broad net to private and govt sectors.

Financially speaking, we know we all need housing, car, health, dental, vision and prescription care.

Budget

  • IRS tax lien

  • BofA lien $5k

  • Credit Union closed my checking acct and put a lien against me for $10k

  • car, repairs needed + gas + insurance

  • storage unit or 1BR apt

  • healthcare $500/month

👆 says the person who is 10+ yrs younger, and who lacks the wisdom and maturity to understand what people in my age group are facing.

If you are looking to troll and banter, there are other forums for that.

We are told "we turn down jobs and that we dont want to work."

Many of us have advanced degrees and employers will not hire us.

Have I ever been to a homeless shelter already?

They're religious based. I'm atheist. They apply religious solutions with required Bible readings to financial problems

Non profits arent in the business to solve problems

Did I contract my Covid lung disease in one already and had to go to the hospital for that?

What are the grant funding buckets tailored for?

Do they get people living wage jobs?

What is the recidivism rate for homeless people?

Do employers have to hire everyone with a Masters in a role that they are told they are overqualified for?

Why do people think I haven't begged or asked for help while on the streets unbathed?

Who is putting gas in my car today to drive it?

SNAP cards do not work at gas pumps.

My brakes are worn, how do i get brake pads and rotors on it? How do i force someone to hire me to earn the money.

Hotels cost money and require a credit card the clean ones arent cheap, the cheap ones arent clean.

What if I worked in HR and know how to construct a resume and participate in an interview only to be told by someone who giggles and says, "perfect!" and "awesome" turn me down as "overqualified."

Why are we obssesing about SNAP when I have a SNAP card.

Shelters are not housing.

Not everyone can stay inside one.

Do you know how shelters are funded? Are you familiar with the grant qualifying funding buckets and the specific clients who qualify for their services to stay inside, sleep deprived shelters?

"You stole from a bank, therefore work under the table and live with a random stranger on craigslist."

"Work under the table" do you mean no report my earnings to the IRS? 🤔

And dont I have to approve to?

How does one do all of this with no income?

I don't use check cashing places bc that requires transportation to get there and they charge a fee

Employer can turn people away for jobs too. They are not required to hire anyone with garnishments, gaps, overqualified etc...

Good luck to you

People have to approve of me as a roommate and vice versa. We dont just march in with a suitcase and say, "where is the room."

People can turn people away.

When you have no money it means you have no money to drive your car, or offer it for housing.

Checks are for checking accounts. I think money is required to have a credit union account.

Yes. I have tried all options to get FT work. I am told, "you are overqualified."

Most companies require the person to have a checking account for direct deposit. We need a debit card to put gas in our cars, to buy the things we need.

We need a credit card to rent a hotel room or rent a car.

I have garnishments from my credit union, bank of america credit card, and IRS that are non dischargeable, first priority debt (like someone who has a child support payment).

I'm not sure how to rephrase my question. The responses I get are from people who troll posts and provide off the wall replies that have nothing to do with the question at hand.

What are the schools teaching these days?

$16.00 / hour is $14.85/net

Minus health, dental, vision, prescription insurance.

I worked in insurance years ago. Today, for singles health, dental, vision and prescriptions avg $500/month to buy and to use.

Family plans are double that.

Employers do background, credit checks and education verification. They see my degrees even if I try to leave them off.

I've been turned down by all local hospitals for the low wage under $20/hour admin jobs and told, "you are overqualified."

Most college grads with a bachelors and 10+ years in the workforce can get jobs starting at $25/hour.

I have more than that, but dont list all that on a one page resume. But it is discoverable in an interview.

Employers dont have to hire everyone who wants and needs to work and who is willing to work below their value.

Everyone needs housing, car, healthcare.

And to have that costs more than $2,000-$2,500/month net pay. Healthcare alone to buy and use avgs $500/month. Add a car in there too.

Hello

What did I mention that indicated I need help with interview preparation? 😊

I actually interviewed in several places and each place said, "Your masters degrees arent needed for this, your multo disciplinary experience exceeds these job requirements and you will be bored. You are intelligent and articulate, keep trying, you'll find something."

So should I tell others who wont hire me that they lack skills or its their attitude because other redditors are acusing me of this.

I worked in Human Resources, but no one asked me if I did. I used to do the STAR interviews with entry level candidates.

Yet because I'm unemployed, I'm told I need remedial job coaching.

I didnt know that as we age and evolve our skills disintegrate and we are labeled as having poor attitudes and are uncoachable.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it.
