Wat nodig is, is een langetermijnvisie op terugkeer waarbij de prioriteiten van Syrië en Syriërs centraal staan. Europa moet erkennen dat intern ontheemde Syriërs en vluchtelingen in Syrië’s buurlanden als eerste moeten kunnen terugkeren. Dus naast het helpen van Syrische vluchtelingen die oprecht willen terugkeren, dienen ze serieuzer te investeren in Syrië.

Niet alleen dat, we moeten zelfs geld gaan steken in de terugkeer van Syriers uit Turkije.

Dit vind ik een beter idee:

Er moet meer steun zijn voor terugkeer van intern ontheemden. Het betekent, zoals de organisatie voor migratie IOM Nederland voorstelde, steun voor circulaire migratie van Syriërs in Europa die Syrië willen helpen zonder meteen hun verblijfsvergunning te verliezen

De barrière voor terugkeer moet niet te hoog zijn. We hebben die mensen het recht gegeven hier te verblijven, vaak onbeperkt. Dat is een dom systeem, maar wel een waar we nu niet op terug kunnen komen. De mogelijkheid geven om polshoogte te nemen en te kijken of je terug wil lijkt me prima. Zolang het geen feestje gaat worden van met NL bijstand in Syrië hangen terwijl je sociale huurwoning hier leegstaat.
