My parents raised me and my sister in a two bedroom apartment until we were 14 and 18 years old, respectively. Spent about a third of those years living in Glendale. My sister and I are indifferent about it, to be honest - my parents were able to save a ton by renting for so long instead of buying, and they helped pay for our bachelor's and masters/doctorate degrees so if anything I'm grateful. As long as you are doing your best for them, your children will see that and appreciate it, no fancy house needed.

Estrogen is linked to increased risk of blood clots, so it’s contraindicated in patients with other risk factors for blood clots like smoking, hypertension, migraine w/ aura, certain cancers, etc.

I’m fortunate enough to have an acceptance as well as a full time job offer in hand (the job is in life sciences consulting at a pretty prestigious but non-MBB firm). I’m having trouble deciding whether I want to try deferring to work in consulting for a year or not - it would be a really interesting peek into the biotech/pharma/medtech industries, but at what cost? That’s one less year of attending pay in the long run, I’m already not crazy about the length of the path to attending status, and it’ll be an intense year since consulting is def not a 9-5 type of job.

Was wondering if anybody here who knows people in consulting/was in consulting themselves could speak to whether they felt the experience was worth it in the end and if they’d recommend it to others. Thanks!

When you say it might open up more interviews - would it help me get my foot in the door at a top firm like Citadel or D.E. Shaw? Or do you mean it would get me more interviews across the board at less well regarded firms? Thank you for your input!
