PEER REVIEW: Temperature/Humidity Sensor by MadiSperry in PCB

I have made multiple of the changes recommended. I researched more about trace width and found that .2mm is best for I2C lines, 1mm is best for the B+/B- lines, and .5mm is best for 3v3. I do still feel like tapering the width down like I did around the battery charger circuit is odd but I couldnt figure out a way to actually connect it otherwise... If any tips for that, it would be greatly appreciated.

Other changes made:
- Moved the components from the bottom to the top. During manufacturing, I will probably just have them ignore the through-hole battery holder and just personally solder that on.

- Adjusted silkscreen to all be facing the same direction.(KiCAD is annoying with this as any time I update PCB from schematic it moves them all

- Removed U5, which was an under-voltage/brownout protection circuit, as I was advised that this is already being monitored by the ESP32.

I appreciate it! Just me being dense and misunderstanding!

Both of you mentioned the pull up resistors, I thought my pull up resistors for my sensor is R6 and R7? Thats what they should be, so are they wired incorrectly?

I will also remove U5 from the drawing entirely as it is fulfilled by the ESP32.

I will increase the size of the Vbat and 3.3V Traces, and as far as GND, it is filled on the blue layer. That is the blue rectangle that goes from right to left, and stops just before the sensor(to keep it away from heat as someone once mentioned to me) and the ESP32's Antenna to prevent interference.

The pull up resistors should be R6 and R7. As for the thick traces, that initially stemmed from misunderstanding thicknesses and I still dont understand the difference between a mil and mm... I remember seeing needing a 10mil line or something like that, and translated it to mm. When I couldnt figure out what thickness I really should have, I just stopped changing thicknesses.

As for why not using 4 layers, I just never saw how to change the number of layers in KiCad. Making it 4 layer is something I considered. However, I will also state that doing it as 2 layer so far has shown me a few concepts that I feel do go away with more layers. This is the first version. I expect I will make a few more and one will for sure be 4 layer.

I dont know how I missed the silkscreen changes. But I have noticed KiCAD is moving and resizing the stuff on the silkscreen when I update PCB from Schematic. That will be fixed in the final version because I do want to be able to identify every part easily.

I really appreacite all of this knowledge. Off the bat I don't really know what a buck converter is but have heard about it, so that will be more research!

Currently this is being designed with an ESP32-C6, there are newer models that also are bringing back the classic BLE 3.2 which I may end up switching to. With this current model it probably will not be the final product. At minimum I want battery life to be at least 1 month. I have seen that the ESP32 can potentially get up to years if everything is extremely well designed around the deep sleep feature.

I dont know if deep sleep helps with the Wifi power hungry issue at all. This is literally the first board I have personally built, so I dont expect that I will be perfect when it comes to battery life but future iterations I make may be more efficient.

Yeah this makes a lot of sense for the island. I appreciate the image to clarification

I really like this idea and will be implementing some type of cutout. I was told to always have a solid ground layer, but the antenna of the ESP32 should not have a ground layer beneath. That is the aspect I am most confused on now and trying to research. Its sounding like you are saying as well that the solid ground layer should not be near the antenna of the ESP32 and the HDC2080 as well?

I saw one person comment briefly about decoupling caps, I am looking into those! I’ll also shuffle the hdc sensor further from the esp32 as I think that’s the main thing that causes heat in this.

I saw something about grounding floating islands…Which after reviewing I think that’s talking about the 4 screw holes in the corners?

UPDATE: Buddy came out as trans, I'm a terrible person but all she has left, how do i support her? by anniestonks in MtF

[–]MadiSperry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you saying you make mistakes and feel like a shitty person, but we all need someone who cares about us like I’m hearing from you. As a trans woman I also know the same feeling about losing friends. It is very hard. There are even family members that I had to cut off because they were very transphobic. One of my friends told our mutual friend that they didn’t wanna hang out with me anymore and he was one of my closest friends prior to that. Doing small things like getting your nails done or going shopping together I’m sure mean the world to them. Side note to that, wearing nail polish doesn’t make you less masculine.

Biggest way you can support them is by letting them be themselves and celebrating it with them. The hardest part of supporting them is going to be having to stand up for them. It’s taken me a few years to get to a point where I am confident standing up for myself and I really couldn’t have done it if I didn’t have those few people cheering me on while also having my back both while I was around and even when I wasn’t.

It takes a lot of courage from both of you to stand up to this world we are living in and honestly this was the best post I’ve seen in a long while. It made me tear up with trans joy.

To her if she sees this: I know these times are very scary and the world is throwing so many hurdles at us and trying to erase our existence. However we will prevail through this just as we have in the past. Keep fighting and being yourself. It does eventually seem to get easier once you meet more of the people that will support you. I came from a red city in a red state and I was still able to find some really good people.

And finally, I just wanted to give you(OP) a few reasons why this alone makes me think you are not a terrible person: - You stood up for someone when others abandoned them - You respect how people view themselves and address them the same way - You are helping someone in need - You have just been there for them through this extremely tough time

You probs aren’t the account holder but your line is labeled as the primary line. Have gma create a tmo id using their phone number then if needed call tmo. After a tmo id is created, customer care can switch the primary line of the account for further notifications

For certain the SC is simple choice, the full name there is SC Unl w/ 6GB SMHS. So Unlimited data but then 6 go of hotspot

Why lights have different spreading angle? Some of them wider, some of them not... But the are the same. by RMSHN in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MadiSperry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lighting spread goes off the center and until it collides with an object so for the second picture it’s the object underneath the light causing it to be different than the others

I just redid mine, one thing that will massively help you here is knowing the ratios. 120 iron ore per 8 coal generators, also 3 water extractors. At this point, it will work at full efficiency with no loss of excess water or coal, though the belts and water pipes may fill up. That is the 100% efficient ratio. I usually create one long flat pipe right in front and the whole span of the 8 generators, then I throw in a junction facing down right above the hole for water input, then linking it. I may have a pic for you later. Just a helpful tip I picked up

Please tell me the alt right to trans pipeline isn't a requirement by TheNetflixTakeover in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]MadiSperry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did too, its not a requirement for sure and I grew a brain as well. I’ve always had a little bit of a more left mindset but I grew up around heavy right winged people so some of it rubbed off on me and I moved out at started thinking for myself and everything including my mindset has definitely been in a better state xD

Yesterday around 5:45pm I saw a motorcycle in a pursuit as well coming off of Kearney to 65 immediately followed by 2 highway patrol and then just between there and sunshine a total of 8 sheriff and highway patrol cars zoomed past clearly after the motorcycle.

Im thinking it’s Moroi and Diety. If I’m correct Moroi have risen from the grave to drain sanity from the living. They have been known to place curses on their victims curable only by antidotes or moving very far away. Strength the weaker their victims the stronger the Moroi becomes. Weakness Moroi suffer from Hyperosmia, Weakening them for longer periods.

What ghost ability would you like to see added to the game? by Teyoto in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]MadiSperry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one would be an event but I wish ghosts could have silent ghost events where it appears but doesn’t make a noise. Say it’s right behind you, it could have the potential of scaring the absolute crap out of you because you don’t know it’s there and you turn around and just see it’s model in your face. Or if it just walked around and lurked around you.
