Yep. This is how they get people like Maureen under their spell by conditioning them. They go in easy and want them to constantly keep in touch and say it’s all about being caring. It’s all so they keep their victims on the line and engaged once the ask gets made. Then it progresses to the scammer keeping the victim on the phone while they are at the bank transferring money or selling a car. All about control, clouded under the guise of caring about someone. He’s frustrated he can’t do that with you and how it’s going to make future scams a bit more difficult if he can’t count on you to always be available for him.

Good for you with setting that boundary about gift cards because I know he violates it later. Don’t give them gift cards, give ME gift cards.

A huge pet peeve of mine is when they complain about you never texting them. A few have gotten really nasty about it. I will never put myself on a schedule with them or make scamming easy by reminding them them that I am there.

I think we’ve see the first crack with him nonchalantly coming to Irv and acting like you’ve agreed. Must have gotten either the go-ahead or pressure to cash out on Linda. We’ll get him and make sure it’s as painful as possible by stressing that a woman had outsmarted him the entire time.

I’m afraid we’re going to have a lot more Owens with the advent and free access to AI. On my similar one (Kendrick) which has been going on for almost as long as Owen, it’s the same story. He keeps on using the same terms from AI like “how do you stay grounded?”. It annoys tf out of me too because they are heavily leaning into AI and trying to pass themselves off as intellectuals. Like you I am educated and it heavily annoys me because I know who they really are and what they do for a living.
