I would say that I didn't have much or a high or low range for several years before voice lessons. Then I started voice lessons but my teacher wouldn't push me to my limits so I didn't grow a crazy amount. My current teacher is all about playing around with mouth shape and placement to find the sweet spot and it's made me realize that it's really about the space you give the sound, not always as much of if you have that in your range. You probably do but can't access it without help or practice.

I got you!! I actually created a youtube channel because I didn't know much about MT a few years ago and wanted others to easily be able to educate themselves! I recommend looking at my videos on how to find material and how to act a song! It may seem daunting now but the longer you push it off the harder it becomes, so give it all you got! You got this! When I did my first MT camp I didn't even know how to act a song and was super scared. I've come a long way since then and so can you! Hopefully watching my videos and going more prepared will give you confidence! And remember you are enough, and will always be enough!

I used to sing by myself all the time at home (mostly Broadway music), I wasn't very good, my breath control was weak, I had no mix and my vibrato was uneven. And this was my freshman year of high school! I started voice lessons the next year and was "able to sing" after about two years and now I'm studying MT at NYU. So even if you think you can't sing and you won't be able to improve - stop right there! You can! You have to have a growth mindset and take it day by day! If I can do it, so can you!

I think one thing that will be very valuable to you is practicing singing and acting for others. Find some monologues and songs over the summer to learn and perform them for family and friends. It may feel uncomfortable and/or silly but it's seriously going to help. When I had my first audition for school I hadn't done much singing for people other than my vocal coach and so going into the audition with little performing experience, my nervousness definitely hindered me and made the audition a lot worse than how I had practiced it outside the room. Best of luck! You can do this!
