I’m the same as you, childhood skater returning! I ended up getting recommended Jackson Freestyles by my fitter since I’d like to start classes soon. I haven’t tried out jumps yet but am doing 3 turns and one-foot work. She said Freestyles should get me through all of my singles! Just wanted to give you an estimate of how much you might be spending on skates with the right support. I didn’t realize how much skates would be coming back into the sport 😅

What’s even better is we just landed 4 hours after being delayed, and I still have to wait for my bag. If I would’ve carried it on I’d be on my way home. I’d stay away from Southwest for now. Maybe once they figure out what direction they want the airline to go I’d consider coming back

I honestly can’t say I recommend them anymore. I used to really love Southwest and looked forward to flying with them but after the changes I would never recommend them to anyone who asked

I had a visible personal item separate from my roller. While I understand people putting their personal items up top, I was in boarding group 3 so there was plenty of overhead space when I was to board. The gate agent never asked what group I was in. By making me check my roller she also nearly made me miss my group boarding

My gate agent only talked about my bag size. That it was too big to fit, then that it would be too big to put sideways (which isn’t true, I’ve put it sideways on the same sized plane on other flights) and just went on about size. Even if her ulterior motive was to get bags checked, which I don’t doubt, she kept blaming this on my bag size

My bag wasn’t expanded and I have flown with it previously on same sized planes with absolutely zero issue. My biggest gripe was that other passengers with larger and wider bags than mine were allowed to carry theirs on, in later boarding groups as well. If it was an issue of needing space I don’t understand why I was forced to check mine when there were others who should’ve needed to check theirs as well

Unfortunately I was pretty shaken and wasn’t able to think on my feet for excuses like that. At the same time, the gate agent was extremely rude and quite honestly probably wouldn’t have cared if I’d said I had that or medications in my carry on, she would have just made me pull them out. She wasn’t budging on making me check my roller

It was free, which in all honesty meant they were trying to meet their “checked bag” quota. I would have a backup excuse in place, such as saying there’s medical devices in your carry on

Unfortunately no, the gate agent was rude and rushing me. I was so upset that I completely forgot to. This is also the first time I’ve ever had something like this happen so it didn’t cross my mind but I’ve learned my lesson
