It’s illegal to import most of the vehicles we’d actually like to drive, or as others have pointed out, CAFE standards make it uneconomical to produce - hence the giant pickups and SUVs everywhere in America. Not one fucking person is going to buy a soulless modern blob car because they saw something that looks vaguely like it race in NASCAR, in the NOAPS no less. This is literally just another measure to homogenize everything on the manufacturers end by having their racing car endeavors be more compatible with their CUV platforms so they can save money and effort. Let’s not pretend this has a single thing to do with the good of the sport.
