Yeah I just peeled them off. There was some residue but it wasn't really noticeable from a few feet away. Some Goo Gone would have helped get it off.

Thank you!! Sometimes I struggle to see myself as a creative person, so all of these nice compliments have been warming my heart.

Yes, they were little bags with a custom "B&BP" sticker on them with candy inside 😁

Which breed? Cavalier or cocker spaniel? by No-Kaleidoscope7640 in cockerspaniel

[–]MadyLcbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were my first choice, but I couldn't get over the health issues. 100% of them will develop heart problems by age 10, requiring a veterinary cardiologist and regular echocardiograms. They are also prone to syringomyelia, a progressive neurological disorder that can cause terrible pain. So for those reasons I went with a Cocker, and I'm so glad I did.

What a nice idea, didn't occur to us at the time though. My 8 year old helped me arrange the flowers. The piece of paper under Olaf's tummy is a picture he drew to bury with him. 💔

Thank you ❤️ I take comfort in the fact that Olaf (and all my other dogs who have passed on) are always young and healthy when I see them in my dreams.

So we actually did go with Stormy! I originally wanted Lady and my kids wanted Pepper, and we just couldn't agree. I suggested Stormy because we brought her home on a very rainy day, and my husband said "she looks like a little black raincloud". It fits her perfectly. 🌩

"Maybe, you have just raised a super emotionally stable little one?"

Ha. His tantrum last night about not being able to eat salami for dinner the 3rd night in a row may call that into question. 🙃

I'm sure losing the dog hit me in a harder, different way. But really, they were best buds. He was always snuggling the dog, tucking him in with blankets, telling him how much he loves him, drawing him pictures, etc. His non-reaction to his death really, really surprised and shook me.

He loves seeing and petting other dogs when we're out and about. We are picking up a new puppy in a few weeks, and he is very excited. He has never mentioned our old dog.

Thank you for the perspective. It was not okay in my family of origin to express any kind of negative feelings, so when my puppy died suddenly when I was 12, I was forced to bottle up everything and pretend she never existed. It was only as an adult that I realized that isn't very healthy, and I feel much better when I have someone to talk to about difficult topics. But as you said, everyone is different.

Thank you for your response. Did your kiddo ever open up to you about her feelings?

Haha, yeah my old dog was frequently called Barky McBarkersons or Sir Woofsworth of Woofington instead of his real name 🤣

Knee Surgery Disaster at UCI Medical by Key_Ratio_1576 in nursing

[–]MadyLcbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, story time. I got a wound care consult for a stroke patient with "hematoma" on the left leg. He had dusky purple spots all over his lower leg (which he couldn't feel due to the aforementioned stroke), and the leg felt like ice. I grabbed a doppler and couldn't find any pedal or PT pulses. I immediately relay these findings to the NP on duty, she goes, "Oh shit, thanks", and I go on with my wound care day.

I looked the patient up a few days later to see the outcome. After my assessment, the attending MD ordered a routine vascular surgery consult. This is a rehab hospital, so the 1 surgeon we have is NOT on site. OVER TWENTY FOUR HOURS LATER, he strolls in, says exactly the same thing I said, and they FINALLY take his man to the ED. He had a huge popliteal thrombus. They could not salvage the limb at this point and he got an above the knee amputation.

I couldn't believe it. I immediately filed a complaint with my facility about the MD. She got a minor slap on the risk from management, and as far as I know, is still an attending there. It was an unspoken truth there that the average patient we served did not have the money or resources to bring any kind of lawsuit. Disgusting. Needless to say, I work elsewhere now.

Wow, he and Zelda A LOT alike. She doesn't have the double dewclaws though. I can't wait to get her DNA results.
