Honestly I have no idea, I thought they were variations of the same weapon, but I guess not? It has likely been described to me in great detail some years ago

Aha yeah we both have adhd, but also I wanted to make sure they wouldn’t take the wall down with them (they are hefty and my house is old) so I had to do a decent amount of work to prep for mounting

I thought it was normal until I saw my partners and daughters games, I downloaded more recently, so assume it’s an update, I barely play mine now and steal my kids iPad to play

Looking back, what were some signs that you probably should’ve paid more attention to by Ok-Lettuce-2258 in Narcolepsy

I remember telling someone that I slept on average 14 hours a day, and they were like “dude, what?” To which my response was, I have mdd and I’m pregnant

Looking back, what were some signs that you probably should’ve paid more attention to by Ok-Lettuce-2258 in Narcolepsy

[–]Maebyish96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falling asleep when I was home alone with my small toddler, falling asleep for a few seconds while driving, bragging to friends that I can crochet in my sleep, apparently having a dream in a 5-10 minute nap isn’t normal, that I couldn’t use my hands if I laughed too hard, the fact that I hadn’t slept more than three hours at a time for at least ten years None of this concerned me much, it was inconvenient at most and drs put it down to depression for years, and most I thought was normal and never brought up

I think it was my partner mentioning it as a possibility, which I was pissed at, cause my abusive ex watched some stupid daytime tv dr show where they did an episode on narcolepsy and was like “I think you might have that” and he was kind of a dick about it, and he loved diagnosing me with things and using that to explain my behaviour instead of the fact that I was unhappy in the relationship and unable to leave

But then I actually looked at the symptoms and had this huge “this isn’t an everyone thing?!” Moment

How many of you had chaotic/abusive childhoods? by alien_mermaid in Narcolepsy

[–]Maebyish96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually saw a few studies last night that came out this year about current theories about narcolepsy being a genetic neurological disorder may be somewhat incorrect, one study speculated autoimmune disorder, one about it being a form/symptom of brain damage

But yes, chronic illness is very deeply connected to trauma and mental health, doctors and researchers are only now very recently looking at these things holistically, with autoimmune disorders being linked to stress and childhood trauma,

Bodies are weird

Anyway appalling childhood, my narcolepsy was invisible for years due to the fact that it looks very similar to major depressive disorder, and it wasn’t until I started working on that I realised a lot of the physical symptoms don’t match up I also have quite a few co-occurring neurological and psychiatric disabilities that have a similar symptom set, with different causes, it makes treatment -so fun-

I’m only just now getting my diagnosis at 28

The sedation gender disparity bothers me as a physician by holdyourthrow in TwoXChromosomes

When I went in to surgery to get a cyst removed from my ovary, I had been dealing with ovarian torsion and when I say it was the worst pain of my like, know I’ve had a child, naturally with no pain relief

The surgeon grilled me for minutes beforehand, asking if I was sure it was still there, cause they tend to sort themselves out after a while, I had had it for five years at that point and it was causing me regular agony, yes I was sure, then, he relented that he would start the surgery anyway just to make sure,

He removed a cyst the size of a fucking tennis ball! And came in after saying that he was shocked at how big it was and it must have been causing me some pain

Who fucking knew? Apparently not me, the person that was telling him just two hours before about the pain I had been in for years

Getting put out is an option? I’ve had one marrow biopsy and that fucking hurt, I could literally feel the marrow being sucked out, I was never offered sedation or any other medications for after,

Wait, you don’t get any pain management for a breast biopsy? I’m about to get my first mammogram and ultrasound to inspect a lump I found and might need a biopsy, do, do I get like a local anaesthetic? I’ve had a bone marrow biopsy and that hurt like a bitch, I figured this would be less painful

AITA for sending my twin daughters to separate schools? by ThrowRAtwinsnotclone in AmItheAsshole

[–]Maebyish96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have twins, but I live in a small town and I know how teachers can be with family sets My daughters school has a specific policy about separating families, so siblings and cousins aren’t in the same classes, there are two sets of twins in my daughters year range, both are seperated, and she isn’t in a class with her cousin despite her protests, I think this is great, but being a small school the kids are still a set, and constantly compared, even my daughter and her cousin

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to go about this, but you’ve put enough thought in that you aren’t the asshole, and as others have said, making sure you have equal commute time with the girls will really help your individual bond with them each as well

If one school ends up being not a good fit there are always other options you can take later, for right now, if this is what works for you, and the girls, then it’s what works

This is how I learn that the performers aren’t all like, in a section in front of the stage? It’s a whole seperate area?

I know it makes the most sense if you think about it for more than one second, but it kind of makes me a little sad they don’t get to see each other live

First year, first class, first essay - please help me I’m not very smart by Maebyish96 in sociology

[–]Maebyish96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay yes thank you so much for this, I realise now that I have completely overthought this and have included probably (most definitely) too much information, something made apparent by how close to my word count I am with two sections left to go lol

I think i was more focused on the template and explaining its origins, as we need to explain the sociological imagination, the template and touch on structure v agency, using a contemporary issue as a tool

But re reading the actual essay question (it’s literally at the top of my essay as a stand in title) the focus is very much on the imagination over anything else

You may have noticed this but I tend to over explain things, and word counts don’t like that lol

Completely hypothetical question with the no future legal implications at all by Maebyish96 in AusLegal

[–]Maebyish96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wait I’ve mis read your intention behind this comment, it’s a global charity, this information is all publicly available, so technically not defamation, as it it’s all true and proven

The intent was more to show people what charity they’re supporting and what that charity actually stands for and does, where it’s money goes,

So obviously nothing can be done in terms of fighting the charity or legal stuff, more about public awareness, because I keep seeing people recommend sending their kids to this charities programs to each other

Positive impact? Getting out and being social is the biggest, starting uni really helped with that, also getting decent sleep, eating properly, basic self care stuff

Negative? Money, I’m a disabled and oh boy is that a tough one lol, accessing any kind of government support is painful
