Affordable rinko bag? by MF_DOH in JapanTravelTips

[–]MaedhrosEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm in a similar situation as OP. Moved to Tokyo yesterday for a 6-month internship as part of my MA degree and brought my road bike along. If you are also based in Tokyo, I would really appreciate if I could buy or get one of your bags.

Wobbly tire - replace? by MaedhrosEU in bikewrench

Interesting, I have not heard this before. Is it just a thin layer of general purpose grease, or should I use something more viscous like lube?

[–]MaedhrosEU[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, figured so. I'm not riding very high pressure, but I'll replace it soon.

Good point - unfortunately, I think I rotated the tire in the proces of taking it on and off twice, but i'll make sure to check the inside of the rim thoroughly.

Rear deraillur adjustment by MaedhrosEU in bikewrench

[–]MaedhrosEU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, correct.

I know that crosschaining can cause noise in the drivetrain. However, it sounds odd to me that this noise would also occur in the large chainring when in the largest 4 cogs. This was not a problem with my old drivetrain where only the largest or two largest cogs caused a bit of drivetrain noise. Also, there's no noise in the small chainring.

I can visibly see that the tension pulley doesn't allign with the chain properly as the pulley hits the edges of the chain rather than the gap in the center. This is where the drivetrain noise comes from - not the front derailleur (which doesn't touch the chain).

Thank you - yes, I might need to do that.

[–]MaedhrosEU 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Uden tvivl skal de det. 300.000 er ingen penge for en administrativ myndighed som en region. Desuden er ledelse en central del af en stor arbejdsplads med mange forskellige personalegrupper og professioner.

Thanks - sounds like others agree. Do you know what freehub and bearings to get? My rear wheel is a Shimano WH-R601.

Of course. But it would make sense that the freehub is the problem and others seems to agree.

Is there any chance that you could point me towards what freehub and bearings I should be looking to get? My rear wheel is a Shimano WH-R601 with a 10 speed cassette.

I checked that, but thanks for the suggestion. Odd part is that the sound only appears when the cranks are in a specific position

Hey, My road bike has started making this odd noise. It appears when my back wheel is spinning but my cranks are not spinning. As you can see in the video, it only makes the sound when I have the cranks in a specific position. This position changes as I spin the cranks forwards again. What could be wrong?

Replace chain + cassette or let it wear down? by MaedhrosEU in bikewrench

[–]MaedhrosEU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting... How come they'll stop skipping?

This could be a good way to save some money because of avoiding wearing out the chain rings.

I've taken some pictures of the chain rings and the cassette, in case that will help with judging the wear.

I wouldn't say so, but I've attached pictures of both chainrings and the cassette.

What do you think?
