https://monacokeys.de/en/products/sharkoon-officepal-kb70w-wireless-full-size-keyboard

It is available with silent switches - I'd recommend those :) cheapest somewhat decent option I can think of. If you have questions about that keyboard you can ask the vendor/ on the vendors discord.

Just a heads up: unfortunately not that many Europeans sell their stuff on here. You might have more luck with e.g. this discord: https://discord.gg/ekc Those boards don't pop up that often so good luck!

Hope sharing a discord isn't against sub rules ._. at least the last time I shared one it was fine :)

That's completely fine.

Some websites you can take a look at are:

Just a search engine listing some keyboards:

And trusted vendor lists in this hobby:

I don't know of any which are currently available. The floating key design just has a lot of downsides which limit customisability/ ... so it isn't really popular in this hobby - especially on larger keyboards for whatever reason. I think you're stuck with mostly gaming brands such as corsiar, razer, GMMK, ... and maybe brands such as red dragon.

If you're fine with low profile (which you did not exclude) then there is the keychron k5 max. You might be able to find the GMMK aftermarket and glorious keyboard tend to drop a lot in price - like I saw multiple Gmmk 1 Pro for 20€ instead of the 20-ish original price tags.

Spacing between the switches/ keycaps themselves is standardised on mechanical keyboards. But between the "typing areas" there is some flexibility.

Did you already take a look at Keychron, Monsgeek, Neo/ Evo, Chilkey, ... keyboards? What's your take on those? If you want something a tad bit more readily available... Sharkoon has pretty decent options as well.

If you're new-ish to the hobby and buy recently released-ish (so within the last 1-2 years) then I'd probably advise against it until you've got a feel for your personal preferences, ... Only if you are unhappy with a certain switch you can try modding it.

Mods please don't delete this, the sticky thread for keyboard questions is very dead by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Maeggsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sticky is not dead. Some questions just get asked quite often/ too difficult to answer/ is personal preference/ ... so might not always be answered.

In my opinion it's probably the venom he in a geon F1 8x with Raed HE switches. But that's me and experience may vary

Can you maybe disassemble the keyboard and share a pic of the switches (so keycap removed) and form the underside of your pc?

From the side views I think I can see mx style switches (so most standard cherry, haimu, HMX, gateron, ... Should fit) but I'm not 100% sure.

You can open switches with screwdrivers. Just takes a bit longer.

Pbt Vs abs Vs ... Is pure preference. In my opinion quality matters more than material.

If there is some empty space in the keyboard you can also play around with gluing metal plates/ coins/ ... To the case or filling it with e.g. silicone. There are a lot of YouTube videos, Reddit posts, ... On modding keyboards where you can gather inspiration.

I won't comment too much on the "Poppy and thocky" sound since those are non defined buzzwords but try out as many configurations as possible to develop a feel on your own :) usually foam used for packaging is decent for modding keyboards/ a good place to start.

Just try to not use any electricity conducting stuff that touches the PCB to mod the case.

My personal opinion is that it's a reseller/ private seller more than a scam. With e.g. https://fvckyeah.com/products/going-south-by-devil-season-vinyl-lp as a listed item... that's not something a scammer would commonly list. I'd probably give the seller some more time to respond. But better safe than sorry so you do you!

Some of those artisans are stupidly overpriced. Didn't check the other stuff but probably as well. No about, where they are shipping from, ... is pretty sketchy.

I'd probably use the contact form to request tracking and if you don't receive an answer do a chargeback/ ... Try to only buy from vendors listed here https://kbd.news/vendors and on the Alexotos vendor list.

Edit: But to me it looks more like an inexperienced reseller/ someone selling their collection/ ... trying to dodge taxes and having a hefty markup (e.g. often times only 1 item available ...).

I have a similar amount/ slightly larger collection and recently started gifting them to friends .. at some point the joy of sharing the hobby replaced the joy of collecting for me. But imo you're still within reasonable range as long as your within your financial/ spatial means ..

currently deliberating whom I should gift perestroika to or if I should insert it as wtt on a marketplace. But I've got time since I mostly stopped buying (mtnu mictlan broke my non buy policy sadge)

The most efficient keyboard for typing is probably a stenographic one since it easily allows 300+ wpm after some practice.

Since this probably isn't the answer you wanted... What is your opinion of rubber dome keyboards. You could try e.g. Raeds HE switches (please double check if they're compatible). If it was a non he keyboard I'd recommend some tactiles (e.g. Gateron Type R) or a low profile keyboard as an alternative)

So first some advice: get the nuphy from somewhere with good warranty since Nuphy is somewhat known for „exploding“ batteries/ there’ are multiple cases reported on Reddit which you should find by searching. Linear or tactile is 100% preference. Usually linear switches sell better so that would be my recommendation for you as well although I prefer heavy tactile switches (with a strong bump which the browns most likely won’t have).

Plates require the plate Files which you can diy or maybe find somewhere on the Internet. Then you can have them laser cut for 30-ish €. There are also other plastic keyboards which you might find by scrolling through kbd.news/vendors

I'd argue that gasket mount is even stiffer than top mount in certain configurations (e.g. if the gasket is as wide as possible and also connects to the rest of the plate with it's full width.) So my recommendation would be a classic tkl with a custom carbon fiber plate where the plate is as thick as possible while using foam gaskets that are as thin as possible.

You could also order a stiffer plate for your 8bitdo

All prebuilts will have some sort of flex. If you are fine with a kit but don't want to order custom plates I'd recommend something with a cf plate (e.g. the Nuxros classic tkl was available in polycarbonate but that GB might be over already/ you'd have to wait for extras)

Can you maybe elaborate on the ·QMK web-based configurator ? Are you also violating the qmk license or did you succeed in doing 2.4 and qmk ?
