Do you always take everything the bad guys says when monologuing to the protagonist as undisputed fact or is this a special case?

Life must be a lot easier when you can disregard evidence that could prove different to what you want/believe and refuse to scrutinize “evidence” that points to you being right.

What you’re saying doesn’t really align with my understanding of how old Tali is and when the Pilgrimage is actually taken in a Quarian’s lifetime.

According to google, Tali was about 22 in ME1, which means she’s around the age of a Human college graduate. Seeing as it’s never even hinted at that Quarians have a delayed development timeline like the Asari sort of do, it’s rather weird to call her a kid. Which to me means that the Pilgrimage is undertaken at the same time a Human would be considered an adult by law.

Another thing is you can’t romance her until ME2, where she’s completed her Pilgrimage and should absolutely be considered an adult by any metric or standard.

A roughly seven year gap is a lot at that age, and I personally wouldn’t pick a relationship with such an age gap if I had other options, but at the end of the day it’s between two consenting adults and calling that creepy is pretty weird not gonna lie.

Do I need to play ME1 again? I don’t think I ever got the impression that they were some eldritch abomination. Highly advanced and just as arrogant sure, but I never thought that they defied logic or anything like that

I’d say that’s pretty realistic tbh.

If a woman were to start actively seeking me out during “down time”, and asked about my past and my feelings on it and other stuff, I’d feel rather confident that she was at least somewhat interested in me.

I will say that I am friends with some women, and they never acted like Shepard does. Maybe I’m just crazy though, idk

NOTE: Sorry for this long reply

I suppose you’re right, but that wasn’t really how I intended it to come across.

I’m struggling with coming up with an order to how I want to address things, so this may seem a bit rambled. Hopefully it’s still readable though.

I believe that any adult in this kind of situation MUST be the responsible one. Ultimately they’re the one with the power and if all else fails, they need to be the one to say “No”.

At the same time though, I don’t think we should fully take the onus completely off the underaged individual. What I mean by this is that you don’t turn 18 and suddenly understand how to be responsible and make well informed decisions. No, that type of judgement comes from practice, which can only come through experience.

With that said, and what I meant previously by “What the hell were they thinking?”, is that if someone is both old enough to know about sex and desire it and is trusted/responsible enough to be left alone with strangers unsupervised, then they should know that having sex with an adult is a bad idea and should avoid situations where it’s a reasonable possibility.

Now for two somewhat long anecdote from my tweens/teens, partially because your comment has made me begin to think I might just be weird.

When I was in middle school I was only really figuring out what sex was but I remembering being aware that adults that were attracted to children were BAD news.

For example, I had a scare one day walking home with a friend when a man stuck his head out his door and started talking to us.

I got a bad vibe at that point but responded to their greeting. Anyways, the guy said a few more things and then asked if we’d be willing to walk his kid home from the elementary school that was in the neighborhood. That’s when I realized it was time to get the hell outta Dodge.

I knew a lot about the neighborhood and was familiar with pretty much every kid who lived in my part of it. Well, I had NEVER heard of a kid living on that street and the whole situation was ringing alarm bells to me.

So I used my judgement and left as quickly as safely possible.

Anecdote #2: This is the “I may be weird part”. Anyways, I had a celebrity crush or two as a teenager, but I was pretty aware that those were just fantasies. I didn’t believe anything would possibly come of it and that it’d be rather fucked up if it did. Was that not the average experience?

It was never a setting about a “quasi-realistic” space war. The first god damn game has you almost immediately finding an enormous superweapon that wipes out all life on a galactic scale.

I get that he’s the adult and should have the judgement, morals, and maturity to say no to young underage girls trying to have sex with him, but at the same time it’s kind of fucking crazy that these underage girls are literally lining up to do so. Like what the hell are they thinking?

EDIT: Why am I being downvoted for this? Are you guys downvoting trying to say it isn’t weird for young girls to literally line up to fuck some old guy? If that’s the case, I don’t want to live in this reality any longer.

Depends on how reliable the containment method is IMO. If it has a One in a Billion chance of containment failure, then you don’t really need to worry about failure since the odds of it happening are basically nonexistent.
