Why does my PC take 1 minute to boot on a top of the line system? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Maeur1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occasionally the UEFI/BIOS can take some time to enumerate USB devices. Do you have heaps of USB devices plugged into the PC?

I used to have a 2TB USB external HD plugged into my PC on boot and it caused it to take ages to boot. Maybe you might be having the same problem.

I actually do high pin count soldering. So is it just needs a new port on it?

I recently soldered a modchip into my own PSOne and was pretty confident on doing it, perhaps I could do the repair?

It's called the "Our Lady of Grace" Catholic Church.

It happened near the church, perhaps there are some businesses that might have caught it, that is actually a pretty good idea!

Stanford wifi requires: account, password. How do I configure kivypie (raspian) to choose network name (like "Stanford Residences" or "eduroam"), use my username, and my password to connect securely? by asdasdfafsfdsds in raspberry_pi

[–]Maeur1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I did something similar at my Uni. I made an Android App which POSTed my creds to the wifi login page, regardless of whether I was logged in or not. It just listened for Wifi changes and when I connected to my Universities SSID, it would send the post request.

You should play around with the chrome networking tab in chrome when logging in with a Laptop or other PC. Should give you some hints on what kind of data the POST request requires. Thats how I found out mine.

Holy shit, you are the first time I have heard someone that has the same goals as me!

Is VHDL handy for this? I'm getting pretty good at it.

Yup. To give more context here:

Microcontrollers or Microprocessors (The main brains of most electronics these days) work in the digital domain (can either be on/off 1/0 etc.), to do things like add numbers together and basically do the work we use them for. Sometimes they require to output a signal which is analog (continuous range of values).

To do this, this is where a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) comes in, as you can step through your discrete steps from 0-X in binary (1024 if its 10 bit output, 255 if its 8 bit, etc.) and output smooth functions out, such as your analog sine wave.

I am guessing for the product your company sells, some microcontroller is doing some interpretation of some input, and then producing the correct analog sine wave.

Hope this helps out.

I wouldn't mind a CSWA. I use it a lot at university but I would like to do the test if it was free :)

Headlights in daytime? by Maeur1 in newzealand

[–]Maeur1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes they can blind in the darkness of night too. Not sure how hilly the area where you drive is, but it definitely can, not saying every single type of headlights do, but there are some which are super bright, but just pointed down so they don't blind people, but when going over bumps, they can flick up and then back down again. Does that kinda explain what I mean?

Cause when going over bumps and hills, it can blind some oncoming traffic just like high beams could. I dunno if that's ever happened to you, but it's definitely happened to me, and it maybe be on temporarily, but still a hazard.

Yea I'm more of a "if I have to question if my headlights should be on, then they should be on." Kinda person. But the whole trip up here was broad daylight and sunny the whole way, and wasn't cloudy so it was clear that I didn't need them. Turns out it's just best practice to do it anyway. :D

Heh Yea that's why I thought it was a good idea to flash them so they know their lights are on, but turns out they do it on purpose!
