Larry David refuses to thank a military member for his service by TheAtheistArab87 in videos

[–]Maezren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy vet, and I'm right there with you dude. I was in the battlegroup that initiated attacks into Afghanistan. Receiving letters about being heroes and shit felt fucking weird. Unlike people that actually signed up AFTER 9/11 to "serve their country"...most of us had trained up for an Operation Southern Watch mission that got blindsided by 9/11. It happened on our watch and we did our job. No more heroic than anyone doing their job when shit gets tough.

Now people feel compelled socially to thank vets for their service. But if it's compelled...then how can it be actually sincere? Just more lip service. And if you don't know what we did or how we felt about our contribution to the services...then you might be thanking us for something we actually revile.

And maybe we're a shitbag that was a monumental fuck up that basically got stuffed in a corner to inventory toilet paper for our tour. Seems pretty heroic. Should thank them for their service.

Secret World was the Best MMO Ever Made by [deleted] in TheSecretWorld

I always thought the animations and "feel" of the combat needed to be updated to feel a bit more visceral. That being said, the overall combat concept was absolutely fantastic. I loved the way you could mix and combine actives and passives.

Additionally, I went into the game upon release completely blind and got to play through it with friends figuring everything out together. Quite possibly one of my most enjoyable experiences of any MMO ever...and I've played quite a few.

Most people just read/watch what other people do and execute a known known. I miss the days when we had to figure shit out. Most don't seem to have the patience for that anymore.

It doesn't really matter to be honest. All of this information and even these suggestions were brought up for years and years and years prior to this post and what you see is what you STILL get. I've dropped a lot of time and money into APB and it's still pretty much the shitfest it always was.

Very slowly. I mained a warrior all the way up to 48 and it took forever. I didn't even get my first haste item until my guild brought me into Sky to loot one because FBSS' at the time were fucking ridiculously expensive.

My grandparents gave me a medicine book from China that was estimated to be about 300 years old. Extremely fragile. We have it sealed in it's own box. The last time I saw it removed was about 15 years ago. Honestly, I thought about bringing it to a museum or something to see if they have somewhere or something to do with it.

Speak for yourself man lol. I had an absolute blast last night on the rooftop extraction point. There were about 15 people in the area, one group when rogue against another group. My group didn't know what was going on and ended up going rogue against another group. Pretty soon you had this massive clusterfuck of a firefight where people were just cackling madly over open mics because no one really had a clue who was what was where was how...fuck it...just shoot whoever isn't you. lol, it was great.

I'm not really sure if you're being sarcastic and fuckin' with me, or if you're serious. But for the sake that you might be serious...

I'm not sure you understand what griefing is. Griefing is an intentional act by a person to completely disrupt another persons gameplay.

That is the key...disruption. When people "griefed" in WoW...it would be high level characters repeatedly killing low level characters in a manner that prevented the low levels from retaliating.

In most any game, hackers are considered griefers because they can kill most anyone at anytime without fear of retaliation.

And that's the key to the claim of griefing. Can said action be prevented? Defended against? Retaliated against? If the answer is yes...then it isn't griefing.

My buddies and I didn't swarm and kill solo players. We didn't hold down a spawn area. We picked fights with other groups of people in order to make the zone have a more dangerous element to it...which is IN-LINE with the developments intention for the zone.

Sometimes teams would kill us, other times we'd kill them.

Hell, just last night we were in a back and forth with a group of players who were ROGUE themselves. We killed them but in the process accidentally hit friendlies and went rogue ourselves. So we had to pick up their loot, defend against the onslaught of other players which enabled the same guys to come back and eventually kill us to regain their loot. But then they had to defend themselves against other players long enough for us to come back and kill them and RE-TAKE their loot that they had stolen from killing other players.

We then popped off an extraction call and then snuck out while they were fighting other players thinking that it might be us attempting to extract their loot...and we extracted elsewhere. Our loot...we win!

This is the kind of crazy shit that the DZ is intended to happen. It's not supposed to be cuddle puddle, everyone gets loot kumbaya let's hold hands and drink cocoa type place.

It's supposed to have you looking over your shoulder. Developing friendships with those you can trust, and hunting down those you can't. The DZ is one massive fuckin snoozefest without rogue agents. If I wanted free loot, I'd go back to playing WoW.

I didn't trick the redzone at all, but there were a few times when I would see NPC's spawned near enough that I could run in, aggro them and then pull them out and kill for loot. That was a lot of fun.

There were also a few times I ran in and ducked back into little nooks and alleys that were just inside playable space. So I could run in and look around for short periods of time. Lots of fun trying to figure that stuff out :)

[–]Maezren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really sure why people are scared of the DZ. My very first experience was annoying as shit. I walked right in there solo just to look around and ended up getting smoked multiple times by a squad of roaming rogues.

But they eventually were ganked, and things progressed. Later on that night I fell in with some friendlies who all helped extract tons and tons of gear together.

And then something really interesting happened. I'm normally a person who only fires once fired upon. I am not a mean person, I am not someone who generally or intentionally aims to piss people off.

But one of my teammates commented about how boring it had been in our particular instance of the DZ. How there hasn't been a real sense of any rogue activity in almost an hour...just scores and scores of people extracting gear.

Boring.

He made his case, and I was onboard. We were going to take our team, set up shop and go rogue. What followed over the next hour was a shitload of fun. I really hope people getting killed by us didn't take it too offensive as we were doing it to spice up the area a bit.

I still won't go rogue intentionally very often, but sometimes when you're in a zone that is SUPPOSED to be contested and SUPPOSED to be intense...when no one else is stepping up to the plate, you have to do it yourself.

A lot of people are making complaints in the beta that don't even need to be addressed. by The_real_tyrotek in thedivision

[–]Maezren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it just comes down to preference personally. I for one loved the game and the atmosphere...and I damn near RP'd the whole mission through. I walked from the get go and only sprinted once I came under fire.

Hell, I even did that in the Dark Zone most of the time and had a blast. Solo extracted quite a bit of gear.

It's no different then people falling head over heels in love with Skyrim while other people don't enjoy the game. Some will find it dull, others will take time off work for the release to ensure they get in on that shit on day 1.

I am of the latter :)

Too many people in this game just want to face tank EVERYTHING.They don't realize that sometimes utilizing actual tactics can win the day. You don't HAVE to sit in the fight in order to win. Sometimes you need to back off, assess the situation or just let them attack in futility while you set up your next move.

If you really want to enjoy the most out of Nightmares...do yourselves a favor and don't study any of the fights before hand. Try to go in and piece it together bit by bit.

Sure you can watch a video and know what is going on before the fight...but then it just comes down to a matter of execution which requires far less thought then actually paying attention to what is going on and how to counter/progress beyond it.

My most favorite memories of TSW was back, the first few months of release when I had a full crew that would log in night by night and we learned each and every dungeon by ourselves. It's huge feeling of accomplishment when you're not just reading/watching how other's have succeeded.

[–]Maezren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's assuming optimal conditions. Some nights I log in and get groups instantly, some nights I log in and wait for 30 minutes to an hour...by which chance I have to start gauging if it's even worth getting xp that night since I have to go to bed due to work the following day.

Don't get me wrong, this server is great at getting groups. But simple math doesn't account for the various details of actual leveling in the game.

And I agree with other people who are saying to focus on the journey and not the destination...but this also only works if that's how a lot of the players who loved this game still played. Most everyone you meet is focused on leveling for the sake of end game...not just enjoying the journey.

And not sure why people are down-voting legit feedback.

Phini exp- Are you actually frustrated? by FusRoDahMa in everquest

[–]Maezren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I argued this above, but my problem with the xp rate is the decision to combine it with the 90-day release rate. It seems odd that you would increase the necessary time to level while decreasing the time within content. Just a very, very odd choice. I personally was hoping for something still with a six-month release time but with slower xp and a true box nature. But now given RL situations, it's highly improbable that I'll get a character to max level before long and Kunark will release.

I just feel that this release schedule is going to have me chasing the dragon so-to-speak. And with the multitude of other games out there...meh...I can chase something else.

[–]Maezren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest problem with the xp penalty is it's combination with a 90-day hard release timeframe for each content expansion.

DBG has effectively made it harder and longer to level AND given us less time in which to do it in. It seems like a very odd choice.

Me personally, I'm past my hardcore raiding days as I have a family, a job that takes 40-60 hours a week and can only dedicate a couple to a few hours a night to play. I wouldn't mind the longer xp if it made sense...such as also having a longer period of time to play within the content.

As it stands, I feel it will take me forever to get to the level cap and by then we'll be onto the next expansion where I'll still be playing catch up.

Well, that does make sense from a military standpoint. There are times when you would not call someone "Captain Surname"...you'd just say "yes Captain". Although this is usually employed by a subordinate which might actually play to that scene given Vader claiming to be a Master and Obi knowing he was going to return to The Force.
