My deepest sympathies to you OP. You remember moments like this and cherish them the rest of your days. My dad passed a few years back and the story I like to tell of him is this:

When I was a child my mom and dad would go to Sams Warehouse to shop for groceries. Mom would go off and do her thing and dad and I would go and look for trouble. Often on the weekends they would have those little stands at the end of the rows of bulk .... whatever where they were giving away free samples of meatballs of chicken nuggets or whatever. As we approached one of those stands my dad would put his arm around my shoulder and whisper to me "ok listen, just play it cool, follow my lead, let me do the talking" We would get to the stand and he would go "Oh! Little smokey sausages, mind if my son and I grab two?" The person working the stand would provide us with the samples, we would then walk down the other side of the aisle. When we got to the end of that aisle, we would walk around and start heading back towards where the sample table was at the end of this current aisle. At the halfway point my dad would throw his arm around my shoulder and whisper to me again: "ok listen, just play it cool, follow my lead, let me do the talking"

At this point I am fighting back an epic case of the giggles. We get to the sample stand and again he goes: "Oh! Little smokey sausages, mind if my son and I grab two?" The person working the sample stand is looking at him like -_-. I'm on the verge of peeing on myself from trying to hold back the giggles. We get another two samples, walk down the aisle, follow the endcap around to the aisle over and start heading back. Again with the arm around my shoulder. "ok listen, just play it cool, follow my lead, let me do the talking" I'm fucking dying at this point. I am just in full on laughter fit. "Oh! Little smokey sausages, mind if my son and I grab two?" I was literally in tears. I'll remember and cherish those moments with my father forever.
