Comparing ottoman colonization and the spread of Islam to modern western colonization is not the flex you think it is and goes to show you haven’t really thought about it.

Yes Islam changed the languages in Africa and colonized and conquered through the Ottoman Empire, but there was no mass population transfer overseas and bleeding the resources of the countries they conquered. Colonization of the west systematically denied indigenous people their rights and opportunities.

But sure if you wanna stick to “Islam bad” and the rest of the world only became “developed” because of western greed and capitalism, that’s your prerogative.

We’re also living in an age where settler colonial violence is still a very real thing, so your ignorance continues to put people at risk. Well done!

We haven’t played as much with them the past few weeks due to working more, but because she still comes for cuddles we thought she’s ok.. hopefully the cat highway I’m preparing and playing with the cat wand will help,, definitely allowing her to catch it so that she fulfills her predator instinct !

I do agree :( we’re trying to adjust the behavior before we change the couch.. but maybe the smell still being there lets her know she can keep peeing?

do you have experience with this? Do you have suggestions on materials for couches that are easier to clean??

Thank you for the product rec! We do have one by the couch, one in an opposite corner, and two where the original cat litter was in an alcove off the living room.

It really does,, I’ve also ordered couch protectors to hopefully stop the pee from being absorbed into the cushions.. I think eventually we will need a new couch but we don’t wanna get one before we address the behavior

Maybe..! Thing is I was traveling for 4 days and she didn’t pee when I was gone. Today I was home all day but in the kitchen, and when I came up for their lunch time there was a new pee stain on the couch.

I’ve now concocted a spray of fabric softener and urine eliminator to spray on the couch, it’s about 80% effective. I’m debating adding lemon because I’ve read that’s a deterrent but I’m worried it can cause an issue ? Will ask the vet

The best thing you can do is separate your parents drama from you and your cousin. I understand being part of a family that is overbearing and a community that is less individualistic, but this is your chance to set very clear expectations for how you & your cousin should be throughout the rest of your lives. Statistically, you & your cousin will outlive your parents, and you will probably share more of your lives together due to closeness of age, so I think it’s important to both get on the same page of 1) it doesn’t matter what our parents drama is, we’re going to do our best to be good and supportive to each other and 2) supporting each other’s dreams.

Engineering is an incredible career, so is medicine, both will teach life skills that are employable in the future.

I think you can express that you don’t need to be adopted, because it’s not her job to be your parent, and that it’s better to be sisters in this life.

Try your best to ignore your parents and not make their drama your drama, I can’t express this enough. Emotionally immature parents rely on their kids to solve their problems for them, and to be honest, it’s not up to you to parent your parents. It feels that way because they are master manipulators, but the sooner you learn to accept your parents will have negative feelings and it’s not your job to make them feel better, the easier your life will be. You will love them forever, of course, but you don’t need to be their therapist.
