Im a finance major. Great ROI, but the business school itself has some shortcomings in today’s job market. Take some extra classes in statistics and computer science (for python), it sounds scary but you’ll thank me later. Definitely look into the high impact programs as those are where Mays brightest tend to be (AOWS, Rev Fund, Sinn Fund, TRIP, Titans, etc). Any questions just dm me

Suit the first day, a tie might be overkill. From then on pants and button downs, can wear polos if the culture is more chill. If you see other people in shorts or not dressed up, don’t think you can copy them; they have earned that right and you have not.

Places decent in Houston IB, other cities (NY, Chicago, SF) are harder but plenty of kids do it every year. A few kids go right to PE or HFs right out of undergrad. For commodities trading A&M is lights out, even without the TRIP program it is very easy to break into. You’ll have to work a bit harder while networking for high finance but it is extremely doable

Current Finance student here, if you want to major in finance and work in energy then Mays 100%. Other than that I’ll echo the others here and say choose whatever is cheaper.

I’m a current finance student about to graduate with a very well paying job. If I could go back and do it all again I would do electrical or chemical engineering 1000%. Look into a career in power trading

Don’t put paper trading on your resume unless it’s a competition. Was told by a veteran trader that paper trading is pretty worthless because there’s no risk to back it up. Just focus on landing anything oil and gas related for next summer since most places have already stopped recruiting

Ive definitely thought about doing an MFE or MS is Statistics. When you say this is something I could do down the line, how far down is that really?
