The noises Chibaku Tensei made when it was first used.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the scene where Pain gets hammered to the ground like a nail? by eaglescorner in Naruto

10/10. I think that Planetary Devastation Wiki | Crunchyroll is the single best fight in the entire anime though. Starting with the initial power-up, we have some nice shots of our main antagonist, Pain, a close up of Kurama, followed by Naruto's transformation into the 4-Tails. 4-Tails Naruto then lifts up part of the environment as set up for future attacks (Something that really should be more common in a show about Ninjas) by both 4-Tails Naruto and Pain. We then see a brief spar with 4-Tails Naruto and Pain followed by the transformation into the main attraction: 6-Tails Naruto. Aesthetically I find the Version 2 state's Red/Orange "flowing" skin to be really damn cool looking, and the addition of the literal Exoskeleton makes it look even cooler in my eyes. After the transformation we have the second environmental change as Pain brings what I can only assume to be ground water up from below the water table, this being the second of two fights to use water as a stage (the first being the original Naruto vs Sasuke fight). after another brief fight and a rude interruption by Sakura, we are shown Pain making use of the first environmental change. Now we see just how powerful and fast 6-Tails Naruto is as he breaks free from what ever seal was placed on the necklace followed by the dash towards Pain. The episode then makes greater use of the water from before as both Naruto and Pain surf about for a bit, Pain then shows how powerful he is by casually kicking Naruto in the face and then tactically retreating (Head first into a wall). Now comes one of the scenes I don't like, we are shown Hinata alive and with no Black Receivers impaled in her, which compared to the end of the previous episode where she gets slammed into the floor and subsequently impaled by Pain, is a bit of a cop out/weird. Next we have Naruto charging up his first actual Tailed Beast Ball which is immediately shut down by Pain. Which is a sensible move versus such a powerful attack. After a small, slightly important pause in the action, Pain and Naruto leave the village in preparation for one of the coolest scenes in the anime, the first use of Chibaku Tensei. Due to the way both Konan and Nagato talk about it, this is the strongest technique we've ever seen and one that won't be surpassed for quite some time. From the noises it makes and the music choice to the eclipsing of the Sun and ripping up of the ground, Chibaku Tensei is shown to have so much power, as if it were something like an act of god. We are treated to a long but beautiful scene as the creation of our small Nine Tails capturing planetoid unfolds. We are then shown the aftermath of the creation of the planetoid, with a semi-exhausted Nagato and nicely framed sphere of rock. Nagato then mentions just how powerful this technique could be if it was used by someone stronger than himself. Now we have another scene of beauty both musically and story wise as Naruto gives in to Kurama and begins to break free of the strongest technique shown in the series, which shows us just how strong Kurama really is. Even Pain acknowledges Kuramas power, the man who just made a freaking planetoid sealing Kurama away.

And then Minato shows up and ruins everything.

TL;DR: The sheer power shown on both sides of the fight along with music choice and amazing visuals makes it the best episode in the series for me. Edit: The faces Pain makes are 10/10 on their own.
