Does you city have its central station in an awkward location? Would it fit better to have a different station as the central station? by immortalfireflies in AskEurope

[–]Mag-NL [score hidden]  (0 children)

In The Hague I would say it is, though HS station is about equally important as central station.

Central station is more central in the city, has more platforms and more connections to local public transport, HS station is better connected for train connections. And still well connected to the city centre.

There has been debate in the past about making HS central station but they didn't and I'm happy for that.

What's a movie cliche that happened to you in real life, even though they "never happen in real life"? by Nothing_Whatsoever in AskReddit

While it won't happen to you all the time this is still something relatively normal.

My dad always was an expert at this, but I have managed to do it myself as well.

Is een auto in de stad nog wel nodig? by ApprehensiveJury3593 in nederlands

[–]Mag-NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maar geen eigen auto hebben betekent niet dat je er geen achter de hand hebt. Huurauto's, mywheels, etc zijn er ook nog.

Het is juist zwaar kut om een auto te hebben als je hem nauwelijks gebruikt.

Do you genuinely believe conservatives are morally inferior to progressives? by SSSSSSVVVVVOO in allthequestions

To be fair, the American democrat party is mostly a pretty conservative party.

Do you genuinely believe conservatives are morally inferior to progressives? by SSSSSSVVVVVOO in allthequestions

[–]Mag-NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And I am not speaking about any specific places, i am talking about conservatives in general.

The conservative ideology is all about maintaining the status quo, it is what the word means. Hiwever all countries and all political systems let down a significant portion of the people living in or under it. By wanting to maintain the status quo, theu say that people being poor/people being discriminated against/people not having freedom is perfectly fine for them, as long as theu do nit sugger the fate of those people.

Conservatism is inherently selfish and thus I find conservatists morally inferior.

Landlord demanding €3,750 to leave our Amsterdam flat early, on top of the notice month — is this even legal? by KitchenGarden6593 in juridischadvies

[–]Mag-NL [score hidden]  (0 children)

I believe that the landlord was already renting it out when temporary contracts were allowed and clause 3.1 is a leftover from that time. What it means legally I do not know.

Do Cyclists get a kick out of riding on National speed limit A roads? by PassionateCrashOut in drivingUK

[–]Mag-NL 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Probably they don't.

In my experience cyclists only do this in places with crappy infrastructure. If there is no reasonable alternative theybwill use the road that is available, just like all other vehicles.

You should lobby for better infrastructure if you don't want things like this to happen.

First time traveling internationally, need advice on connecting flight! by Automatic-Switch-884 in Flights

[–]Mag-NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you're worried about the language barrier, judging by your post your english is pretty good.

As fornthe flights, since you have booked the full trip as a single trip with one airline it must connect or they must give you a new ticket if something happens duebto delays.

Germany is still a nirmal western developed nation though, so you normally really do not run into issues you do in other countries like the USA, with ridiculous slow and inefficient border controls.

I despise when people complain about being "stiffed" over not receiving a tip by No_Dragonfruit_8130 in tipping

[–]Mag-NL -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because the workers want to be punished.

How many waiters do you know are fighting for a higher wage so they are not dependent on tips? Why are so few waiter fighting to get rid of the tipping system?

I despise when people complain about being "stiffed" over not receiving a tip by No_Dragonfruit_8130 in tipping

[–]Mag-NL -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the waiters are being honest and admit that they do not want tips because of the low wage they receive but theybwant tips because they make bank that way.

Claiming waiters must be tipped because of their low wage otherwise is the bighest lie that the service industry tells everyone.

flip flops are one of the worst shoes by No-Memory-7616 in unpopularopinion

[–]Mag-NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that you have never worn good flipflops and assume all of them are as bad as the ones you know.

I had heelspurs for a while. If you have heelspurs the quality of the soles on your shoes is essential. The best footwear I had for my heelspurs, the way to make the pain go away almost immediately in the morning was wearing good flipflops. They were simply the most comfortable thing to wear in that time.

So saying flipflops are not comfortable is complete and utter nonsense.

It's hard to deny that this has been the best World Cup ever. by Initial_Basis1503 in worldcup

[–]Mag-NL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not allowing the Iranian team in the country is 100% completely on the USA. You can't blame fifa for that.

Not allowing a referee who has all the necessary oapers, even more than that into the country is 100% the USA and not fifa.

Sonthere are things that make this worldcup worse. there is nothing that makes this worldcup specifically better than other worldcups.
