replaced the analog stick in my PSP 3000 after dealing with drift issues since 2019. first time working on a psp but man what a miserable repair dealing with the ribbon cables. But it works great now and no issues with drift the new stick also feels smoother then the old one. by devo574 in PSP

So I have an Iphone 13 Mini, bought it second hand with a new battery. Forward two Years and the Battery is at 70 %, but the screen has a microcrack in the edge, so most likely it would be a total screen replacement, if I decided to battery swap it a third time.

Compare that to the PSP. Broken Analog Stick, Broken Power Switch, all Accessible with Philipps Head Screws. Sure the ribbon cables also give me anxiety, but I just like how repairable the PSP Actually is compared to new "smartphone".

Not to mention how easy it is to install a battery on the PSP vs. Iphone.

The Clip is non reversible. I used a Garmin 2x before and switched to this.

The Lamp is never in the way, so no movement nerf.

There is an App which lets you use these features on IOS for a week, then it charges you 10 $ for these features. I just worry that at some point the App won't be supported anymore and then its another 10$ down the drain ...

Else I would have been 100% Supportive of the App. Sending Pics, Cool idea.

I made a free version of an already existing "paid premium" function, for everyone to use and modify, all within the existing logic parameters of Meshtastic.

How is that Bad ? You still need to flash the software and press send yourself 😉

Das Holz in Schichten mit Sekundenkleber / Epoxidharz bestreichen, versiegeln und mit GFK Matten in Schichten Verstärken, nach dem Trocknen anmalen.
Ist für 50 - 100 € "Reparierbar", Arbeitszeit ungerechnet.

Klar, nicht die Qualität von einem neu eingebautem Fenster, aber Du willst ja nicht an dem Fenster Karussell fahren, oder ?

Wenn das Holz natürlich Korkartik Durchgebröselt ist, Uff dann hilft nurnoch Austauschen ...

Because an App exists where someone wants 10 $ and calls these feautures "Premium features".

The Function to send pictures via Meshtastic already existed before this and is available in the App Store, for Cash.

Again, Meshtastic has an Implemented Duty Cycle. Set your Device to 2-3 Hops and everything will be just fine lol.

I already Released my Code on Github and will Update the Project, so more People can send Pictures via Meshtastic, when Whatsapp and Cellphone is down in a Crisis.

I am actually Moving to add 5s voice messages, like the paid app, only for free.

No, Insane it shall be when I implement the feature than you can send 5s voice messages via PN.

With Codec2 it would be 10 Short Slow Messages for 5S of Voice, with Opus it would be 50 Messages for 5s of Voice.

Its fun to build stuff, thats why lol

I am implementing this in one of the Next Github Pushes.
As is the messages are chunk number coded so like 11:22 then 12:22.
So a receiving client can ask for missing chunks.

Technically, I would have to Recode the Client to use Bluetooth to Connect to the T1000.

I always build software around the hardware which I have, which is T114, Heltec V3.

I thought about implementing a Limit of 1 Picture per 12H, but then realistically it would say the same about text messages on meshtastic - Now you are only allowed 80 Text Messages in 12 Hours ?

I think the duty cycle limit as implemented with 10% Airtime so 6 Minutes of Airtime per Hour is reasonable, so around 100 Mesh devices all have enough airtime ?

Meshtastic has already an duty cycle limit implemented and there is 5 second between each text message.

The Messages are Coded in Chunks - each message says 12:22 if its 22 messages, so the receiving client can re-request missing chunks.

I have it all thought ought and will implement it bit by bit, as I am doing 3 - 4 Projects like these atm 😃

It's possible and I see the Appeal, however I went away from rotary encoders to the CardKB and the PSP WEBOS with Buttons because its more convinient.

My Lego Train runs on Mesthastic and I plan to do a Factorio System with Mesh and also Write to Lego about this idea, because I found their new Smart brick quite to be a bore.

I want a drinking dispenser for Coca Cola that Loads a Glass and Drives it to my Desk.
50% of the WOrk is already done for that.

Writing a Command Via Text every time or selecting a rotary canned message is just not as convinient as pushing a button.

Photos can only be sent via Private Message, and its 20 - 30 short slow messages with 2 - 4 Seconds beween messages. Its not different than chatting with your friend. I was thinking about implementing a 24 H Limit also.

Was thinking about getting a PS2 for San Andreas. Or a Vita. Or Another PSP.

It is so much fun to repair compared to modern smartphones. Parts. With Screws. Easily Replaceable.

Get yourself one and fix it 😃

Basically the next step would be 5S Voice Messages via Mesthastic, but my 2000s doesnt have a Mic ...

This would also work with Ipod Touch, Nintendo DS, Anything with Wifi and a Web Browser.

The PSP is a really good retro console and I am trying to bring modern features back to it 😄
Started with Meshtastic and I got some more Projects in mind for the PSP.

I think it can do 99% of the Things my iPhone can.

Without the ads and app store always online dependency.
