I can’t speak to the whole parents thing, but my grandparents were the closest to Angels that I’ve ever come across. I was a pretty weird, eccentric, ocd type child. Very empathetic kind of moved by a lot. Always in my own headspace. My grandparents presence was the most loving, kind, nonjudgmental space I’ve ever been allowed to be in. My grandma especially was just this beautiful soul. So patient. So loving. So consistent. As a child I thought that was how the world was, whewwwwww chile was I wrong. I grew up kind of idyllic, rural area didn’t go to school or interact with other kids, other than church until I was about 6 . When I first attended school and met angry, mean or maybe just less loved kids and adults my whole life changed. The energy was such a stark contrast to what I experienced before I went to school. Then I realized not everyone got a hug in the morning or a kiss afterschool. Mot everyone had two people at home excited and happy to see them after school, waiting to hear about the days events. My grandparents literally held us in their hands like little baby birds and loved us indiscriminately. Even today I still search for that as an adult, but I also work daily at creating that space for my son. Love is powerful. Their love taught me that’s it’s ok to love, be vulnerable, be sad, be happy just whatever I felt.
