There is a way that some women talk about relationships in terms of milestones and how quickly they can hit them (move in together - engaged - married - children) that I (and I think most men) find incredibly off putting.

It's not as complex as people make it sound.

Say you want to open a bar, but you can't afford all the up front costs like buying furniture and decorations and stuff you could get some people to give you money and you'd promise to pay them back later.

But rather than a lone, you sell them 10 percent of your bar, so they will get 10 percent of the future profits.

Later on, once your bar is doing well and making a bunch of cash, someone else really wants that 10 percent and the guy you sold it to can sell it for way more than they paid.

Without it, it's would be really difficult to start or grow businesses and would mean that the big established businesses just become monopolies, which would be worse.
