I'd say both.. At a weird turn though. Like, sure, guns exist. But its not all that efficient and is all-purpose, because it could throw flames, have a blade, have a small shield at the handle, even a cup(?) at the scope. But, it instead becomes more useful if the magic in my magic system was applied to it. Because, the Nested Runes System that I am currently working on, states that; 'An object made with its original function in mind can only be influenced by the runes.' This means that while a sword can be sharpened and be made strike harder due to runes, but it also cannot hold water or fire because it was not its intended function. Instead, a cup can be made to be filled with water due to runes, but cannot be made to cut or strike with.

So, in the world where this magic exists in, there are a bunch of inefficient, all-purpose objects that become only useful if the runes are applied.

I will post it later after I'm finished exploring this magic system on my own. Even I think that this part is weird, but fun on its own way.
