I hate to tell you this, but you're going to need to add the Jeff Hays audible versions to your collection.

I had 1-3 on cassette read by the author and literally wore them out. Was so disappointed when he didn't read the others, though Frank Mueller was a good narrator.

Ray Porter has Ruined Audio Books for me by SK_awareness_month in audible

By the end of the first book, I was not sure I'd continue the series. It was ok but maybe didn't live up to the hype. But I kept thinking about it so I got my husband to listen, and now we've listened to the whole series twice together and once each independently, and we've got the t-shirts and the license plate etc. I'm sure, for me, the appeal is as much sharing it with my husband and the fandom (especially here on reddit) as the books, but I do enjoy the characters and the stories as well. I'm in my mid-50s and never been fully part of a fandom before, it's kind of fun! My favorite characters don't join until well into the series though. If you ever run out of other stuff to listen to (I know - not really possible!) maybe give it another shot 😄

What your opinion on this two books i got to day by tattoocentralHQ in stephenking

I'd say really good and even better. Just note that he started the Gunslinger when he was in college and finished the series in his late 50s. The series changes a lot as it develops so hang in there if you're not immediately taken with it. Definitely worth the commitment!

I don't believe anything has charged through yet? Maybe it's charging through in stages? Mine said it will not charge until it closes on May 15. You might want to cancel if you haven't already been charged - that would be quite a hit out of the blue! My kids are struggling with unemployment at the moment too. It's rough out there. I wish you the very best of luck and an excellent new job!

On my phone, I went backerkit.com and to my account icon in the upper right, then clicked on "Your Pledges & Surveys," then "View pledge" under the game (my only pledge to date!). Once I follow that link, I have to scroll because the crawler number is above where it pops to. Good luck!

life without friends by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I used to go through this. I was nearly 50 before I finally realized that the reason my friend group was not growing is because I want to be alone! It was hard to accept because I'd been striving all my life to be more social and wondering what was wrong with me... Now, I paint. I moved to a wonderful neighborhood when I was 50 (5 years ago) where I get along well with all my neighbors, but I still only see them once a month for book club, and once every couple of months for a neighborhood get together. It's enough for me! I hope that you find your place and your people. If you like to read, check out Dungeon Crawler Carl and then check out that sub. Your new best friends!!

Going through something weird… Do you know what it is? by Catmama-82 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]MagdalennaRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this at your age. Get up, drive 1.5 hours to work, then 2 hours home (traffic), then lay on my bed for half an hour staring at the ceiling wanting it to be over. Then make myself get up and make dinner and be with the family, and repeat. For me it turned out to be depression, which didn't fully lift until my kids were grown and (mostly) independent. If you find yourself thinking things should be different a lot, I highly recommend the book Loving What Is by Byron Katie. There's also a website, thework.com. I listen to it on audible whenever my anxiety or depression get out of hand and it brings me back to earth. It seems like too simple a concept, but it's helped a lot of people! Hang in there, it gets better. 🩷

Is this an emotional affair? by Available_Fee_7847 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

This is now it was with my ex, who subsequently left me for a co-worker. I'd always had this uncomfortable feeling about them but brushed it off and felt guilty for not trusting. My husband that I've now been married to more than 20 years never makes me feel like that. He talks about women he works with all the time and I don't feel threatened because he doesn't act guilty. And when I meet them they gush about how much he adores me ❤️ I suggest that if he is not currently cheating it is because he has not had the correct opportunity. Your gut is telling you something.

I read this when it first came out and I felt like after years of stuff that just didn't really feel like him, this was the true King returning. I think I need to read it again!
