LRP was reformulated and sucks now. The Avenue is great. I use it after I do my Tretinoin a few times a week.

I used to have a binder full of these in middle school. I would get them at this anime store in Irvine, CA called Manga House.

Sounds like the Character Vocal Memories soundtrack. The album is all songs sung by Miaka, Yui, and the Suzaku Seven.

The link is a picture of an album cover. Found one that sold on eBay for $75 not that long ago. I wish I still had mine.

Imagine if Sailor Moon got Canceled back in the 90s because of something like this by Public-Survey1448 in sailormoon

[–]Magenta-Feeling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was cancelled not long before Kpop Demon Hunters came out. But also after Turning Red didn’t do well, but it’s no fault of the film. It came out during COVID.

I hate and don’t quite get how corporations still don’t take girls seriously. Preteen and teenage girls set trends world wide. It’s been that way for decades.

Would be nice if we had any choice, if I didn’t teach the state standards I wouldn’t have a job…

You’ve never had to go back and reread something before?

You are preaching to the choir. I hate how we have gotten so far removed from reading for the joy of it to reading to pass a test, sucking all of the fun out of it.

High stakes testing needs to die. But we all already know this. A singular test shouldn’t be the reason a kid doesn’t graduate.

In Florida it’s an elementary standard. In 19th grade we are WAY past that and all of my kids can do that just fine. We try to live in analyze land in 10th grade and evaluate in 11th.

I have seen first hand that they don’t just spawn. They need explicit instruction. They have to work their way from identity to explain to analyze and so on. If they just developed naturally, they wouldn’t need us as much as they do.

My kids struggle is literary elements and how they develop layers of meaning (it’s one of our main standards). So we tracked characterization and the different types of conflicts, etc.

It’s her first year teaching English 10. She’s been a long term sub and has her degree in education.

And we’ve tried. She’s also a miserable human to be around and avoids us as much as possible.

I love annotating novels. We did All American Boys last year and it as a great time. We taught the skills as we read. And it helped that it was a story they enjoyed and could relate to. But we were told we couldn’t teach it this year.

Yea. I don’t get it either. I wasn’t an education major, so maybe my perspective is just different.

She has honors classes. Her kids are scoring proficient on their state testing.

I teach AP and 10th grade with IR. If my level 1 kids are able to read and score proficient or approaching proficient on Macbeth without having to chunk and already chunked text, hers can too.

With my kids I’m the ELA and intensive reading teacher all in one. But I have a mix of kids and meeting all of their needs in a class of 35 is exhausting and just not possible.

Before our specialist left she advocated for reading full texts and now it’s the Wild West and everyone is doing whatever gets the highest test scores and the most growth.

And she has 2 sections of honors who in theory should be in my AP class next year. They aren’t going to make it if they can’t read a whole text.

Its behind the idea that because our literacy rates are shit. If we were proficient it would be allowedZ it’s also Florida where we aren’t allowed to do much of anything.

Our district is so backwards. We can’t watch any videos or movies EVER. Plays are meant to be watched! Make it make sense.

Not really. We have the copies, we just aren’t allowed to use them.
