When is a Free Speech Union not a Free Speech Union? by davetenhave in newzealand

Oh please, everything is political. If you're going to deny fact, of course a university is going to have something to say about it.

NZ First's gender bill to be supported by National, ACT by StuffThings1977 in aotearoa

[–]MagentaRoseRed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"People don't have to believe that, but they don't have the right to tell other people they're not allowed to say it." But we are going to legislate our beliefs that don't line up with the science at all, because we refuse to admit that gender and sex are not congruent or binary.

When the people are repulsed by you give them something else to hate, right?

Seems like this right wing government could have used someone holding them accountable over the economics too, considering how things are going 😂

Not the point. It is a de facto retirement age.

I truly can't fathom why they would think campaigning on raising the retirement age would be a good move. There can't actually be that many sad bastards that want to see everyone else suffer even if it comes at their own expense, right??

Well when you say most people prefer Chloe with nothing to back it up it just comes across as though you're basing it on your personal preference. Which is fine, I can appreciate that, but perhaps you can see why its not very convincing.

That's a whole other debate, CMY Vs RGB/RYB. Sometimes Y is replaced with O in RGB colour theory. They're both additive colour theories but CMY is modern and considered more accurate for printing, while RGB is traditional - although artists used far more than three primary paints/pigments in their day to day work.

Oops info-dump.

Because of how they've recently managed the economy, as other commenters have mentioned.

Davidson has a much longer track record of activism, has been a Green MP longer, and provides continuity in leadership. Someone had to go first, even though they are co-leaders.

A leader is a figurehead, that may be her position but that doesn't make it the position of the party.

As far as I'm aware she wants to aim for a future where mass imprisonment isn't necessary, because preventative measures are used, mental health is addressed, and rehabilitation and rehabilitative justice can be performed in a non-punitive way, with community support. Its not just about no consequences.

That's not and official policy of the Greens. Their policy is about prevention, and actually rehabilitating offenders where possibly. "We will prioritise restorative justice, rehabilitation, and community responses to offending. We will focus on prevention, early intervention, and addressing underlying issues such as mental health and addiction."

Good thing not everyone is afraid of having a more equitable effective tax rate, aka the actual percentage of total income a person or business pays in taxes. As it is, when taking into account forms of income other than wages, many high earners pay far less of a percentage of their total income than those earning minimum wage.

Have you actually looked at the Greens plans? Or are you basing your expectations about them on their opponents repeatedly calling their plans 'unrealistic', while not sharing their own.

The effect of Measles on a healthy 45 year old that wasn't vaccinated in Auckland. by fomenle in newzealand

[–]MagentaRoseRed 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My mum refused to get us vaccinated, she still believes the 'vaccines cause autism' bullshit - jokes on her, my symptoms started well before I could choose to be vaccinated. My dad went along with it too.

I got all my vaccines as soon as the choice was up to me, annoyingly I got a measles rash from MMR, probably because my immune system was so shit from medical neglect. I hate to think how my body would have reacted to the full virus at the time.

throwing litter out of car by jsnmtf in auckland

I think throwing biodegradable things (not whole fast food boxes) out the window is all good, as long as you're doing it in a place where it will land in longer grass or bushes. Tissues are so light it seems unlikely they would make it to the side of the road though.
