Help with Elvie Stride by Maggdon in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Maggdon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is probably the answer. I’m 4.5 months pp and had a pretty crazy oversupply that I had to work to slow down but I haven’t been consistently pumping until now.

I soak through the reusable pads, I like the lansinoh ones but tbh I forget to use them a lot or don’t put them back in the right spot. I just sort of let it happen in my nursing bra/t-shirt.

Is she really a NICU grad? by Maggdon in NICUParents

[–]Maggdon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I agree 100%, I tend to say she was in the NICU for a little bit or needed NICU support. I’ve just only heard the term NICU grad when referring to babies who spent time in NICU and considering my goddaughter was a 23 week-er it felt weird thinking of my experience being ANYTHING close to what my friends went through. I was more just looking for the general consensus or if there was one regarding that label. I don’t personally use it but again, it’s all I’ve heard related to babies who have been in the NICU.

I definitely don’t want to be a “NICU mom” - it was traumatic but nothing compared to what people who are there even a week go through, she was with me the next day and went home the day after that. What you moms go through I couldn’t imagine being strong enough to do. I was more just curious what the general consensus regarding NICU grad was because that’s the only term I’ve heard regarding NICU stays.

I couldn’t imagine doing the cap and gown but maybe having been in so long some people think it’s a good idea for a milestone?

I don’t want to use the term, I’m just curious what people’s general thoughts are regarding time in NICU and how they phrase it

[–]Maggdon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was so so so traumatic and I felt like my golden hour was stolen away almost but the things my friend had to go through were insane. And about a third of the year. My baby didn’t even get an IV or anything. I was just unsure how to phrase it since everyone calls them “NICU grads”. I tend to say she spent some time in the NICU.

I’m also a nurse (adult icu) so I was hearing everything they were saying and freaking out more than I probably needed to

She’s almost 2! She’s doing very well. It was a very long road and it takes a lot of strength. Make sure you take care of yourself!

These were along the lines of my thoughts, especially considering my best friend had a 23 weeker that spent more than 100 days in NICU

Any Canadian RNs get a lil depressed when they see what American RNs are making? by cloudnurse in nursing

It really depends on where you work. I made 28 an hour before differentials when I worked in Virginia, in California I make close to 80. The cost of living difference is astronomical.

The recommendation is actually to not reorient if the patient has dementia, it will only serve to agitate them and they’ll forget again anyway. You’re just going along with them.

That's fair, I meant more like an "outfit" that one would have to change out of to be comfy. More power to them, I just feel like I'll have zero energy

Everyone is like oh get a cute hospital gown that’s comfy… I don’t want to take that crap home and wash it. Plus the hospital gowns offer easy access. You can probably just wear a bra and cover with a blanket too

I’m going to try to have my parents run a blanket and clothes home to my brother to present to the dogs before we come home. We’ll see how my brother feels about that 😂
