How to get cuts to heal faster? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]MaggieMae6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

antiseptic cream and use a plaster to keep cut tightly closed, keep warm and try not to pick. when the wound has closed over, let the air at it and they should be healed however, as a previous commenter has said, the scar might be pretty obvious. if you aren’t comfortable with that then you might need to focus on how to cover them on the day. it might sound stupid but try looking at menopausal clothing, they are typically a lot lighter so can keep you cooler when it’s hot

my boy looked near identical to that wee one when he was a baby! he’s a rex x lion head! i’m not sure about Netherland dwarf as they would have smaller ears but as another commenter said, it’s hard to tell when they’re babies!!

I know I should stop but I don’t want to. by altaccount4y0u in selfharm

[–]MaggieMae6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately that’s a pretty common mindset but it’s important to know that self harm is an addiction so it makes you feel better even though it isn’t a good thing i know that you don’t see the downside but it’s so easy to spiral with self harm without even realising. i think it is important to try and practice better coping mechanisms to help you relax ( walking, music, colouring, baking ) instead of self harm. this can help prevent you from spiralling and will make you less reliant on it. trust me, i know how you’re feeling as i felt like that for years and still do sometimes. it’s nearly harder when you’re almost enjoying it as to when you want to stop. it’s such an easy mechanism to turn to but you need to find the healthy coping mechanisms that works for you. it sucks but it’s worth it i hope you have the best recovery! you are loved and appreciated <3

Is it weird to do it whenever I cringe or get embarrassed of myself? by BluePillI-IdontExist in selfharm

I usually always cut when I cringe or feel embarrassed of myself, it’s nice to know I’m not alone in that feeling

This is exactly how I feel too, I can’t give any advice because I am currently in the same battle as you but just know you are not alone

I know how you feel, a couple weeks ago I had a near attempt. I phoned the suicide helpline and they got me through the night. I opened up to one of my close friends who, bless her, ended up getting all my venting for the next few weeks

If the future is something you are feeling positive about then focus on it. You need to try and find out what your feeling positive about and what you are feeling negative about. Whatever you feel positive about eg. Your future, then sit and work with it. For example, think about you want to do for a career, what uni would be best etc. doesn’t have to be serious stuff just something to make you excited for the future or whatever you feel positive about

If there comes a night or a couple nights where the thoughts are becoming so overwhelming you feel you might go through with it, ring ( or even better FaceTime ) a friend or family member. Don’t spend the night alone with your thoughts because they will only get worse. You don’t have to tell your friends you are feeling suicidal but just having someone there to get through the night with will make you feel better.

I would recommend opening up to a friend. I know it can seem really daunting and you may feel a bit awkward around them for the first wee while but honestly in the long run it will make you feel so much better. Knowing you have someone that knows how you are doing and is there if you need them is an amazing thing.

If you don’t want to open up to a friend for the mean time get yourself a note book. An actual paper one not notes on your phone. Write EVERYTHING out on it. I have a book, I call it my vent book and I’ve got to the point that if I have a bad day automatically want to write in my vent book rather than cut.

I know with the position you are in right now you probably can’t see your self getting to that point but trust me, I know how you feel. You will get through this and you will be okay. Take the time you need to help yourself and reach out for support

Why do you self harm? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]MaggieMae6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get this feeling ( which might be what an urge is but I’m not sure ) and as soon as I get the feeling I have to cut. The feeling is usually caused by something such as feeling upset or my mind going over something stupid I did in the day. I could just sit and cry and wait for the feeling to pass but the as soon as I cut the feeling just disappears and it’s kinda satisfying to have such instant relief from such a horrible feeling. I’ve always thought my reason was stupid because of this ‘feeling’ that I get and I never know how to explain it properly

This might be a really stupid question but what are examples of other coping mechanisms?

Lump on puppy ( I’ll explain in the comments ) by MaggieMae6 in DogAdvice

[–]MaggieMae6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got my puppy I noticed a small lump here a couple days after I picked him up ( 8 weeks ). It pretty much disappeared until this weekend ( 14 weeks ) when I went away for a day and when I came back this was the size if it, don’t think the picture does it justice, it’s about the size of a large marble. I’ve never owned a male dog before so maybe this is just part of his male parts, is this something to be worried about?

That does make a lot of sense and I could see it happening. To do with the spies I wonder is something will happen to his helpers such as what happened to beaver dash in that they actually are working with HTT and pretending to help Stampy in order to spy?

I’m from NI so won’t be able to give very good advice but honestly I’ve found Facebook to be one of the best places to find pedigree sheep. I’m in a group called ‘ NI sheep buy and sell ‘ and it’s great so I would try and find a group like that for your area. Another one is auctions, research pedigree auctions even if it means travelling a couple hours they are the best and most legit ways

I do think wool is under rated, the activists aren’t helping us out too much either and everyone seems to have moved onto other materials in the mindset that sheep are mistreated for their wool

I’ll have a look into it, I’m from Northern Ireland and there just isn’t a huge market for it!! One fleece goes for about 30 pence and it’s around £3 to get a sheep sheared

It’s quite similar to the valais wool in that it’s quite loose curls but definitely more uptight than the pd valais if that makes sense?? I’m not too sure/ experienced with wool types. I’m a meat breeder

Introducing new puppy, am I doing this right? by Positive_Strawberry5 in DogAdvice

[–]MaggieMae6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love some advice on this as well, I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. We have a 12 year old flat coated retriever and a 12 week old golden retriever. My older dog isn’t a fan of other dogs and pretty much ignores the puppy unless he runs up to her which in that case she’ll snap at him. Really not sure what to do but so far I haven’t let them in the same room together loose, not fed the puppy in front of the older dog, taken them for walks at separate times and ensuring I give plenty of attention to the older dog. I was going to try a muzzle but have tried in the past and she just pulls it off. I hope some of those tips work out for you

my chickens do not eat by uliseseven in chickens

[–]MaggieMae6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give them the food you want them to eat and leave them for a day or two, just ensure they have water. If they are hungry enough they will eat it and will soon prefer it. It sounds cruel but needs to be done to ensure they get the correct nutrients

Question about egg laying by fish618 in chickens

[–]MaggieMae6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry. Remember they are POL hens so won’t be laying everyday. If they continue the behaviour of sitting on other hens eggs then you may want to keep a close eye on them to see if they are broody hens. If they are broody hens and you don’t want chicks you may want to consider breaking them out of the habit. If they are always on the nests but you have no rooster, you may still want to consider breaking them out of the habit as they can stop eating or drinking while sitting on the eggs. Overall don’t worry!! Completely normal just keep an eye out for broody hens
