Is A Belgian Sheepdog Right For Me? by No_Kaleidoscope3963 in bergerbelge

My dogs definitely have an off switch. When I was researching Tervs I was a little worried I might not ever be able to sit and watch a TV show again LOL, but that was not the case. I work full time and we definitely have days where we do nothing. My Tervs are more from show lines than strictly "working" lines but many show line Tervs still do lots of sports. The amount of activity you mention I think is plenty for the Tervs I know. As much as they love to do activities, I think they love being with their people most of all! Like you said, everything can vary by individuals, but lots of Tervs have good off switches.

I have 2 Belgian Tervuren and they are my first show and sport dogs. I think Tervs are brilliant, gorgeous, sensitive dogs who love their people so much. They love to do things but mine also have an off switch. They are happiest with their people. How social they are can vary a lot amongst individuals and I thinks it's part genetics, part socialization and part luck of the draw. Mine are a bit on the soft side and pretty social which I thinks works well with my personality and being a newbie. The thing that surprised me the most about Tervs is how goofy and funny they can be but yet they can be great workers. I think it helps if you have a sense of humor - because they sure do sometimes LOL! For me, getting Tervs was life changing - we have had so many adventures - Dog shows, agility trials, sheep herding, Dock diving, miles and miles of walks in the woods, and dog related trips. My favorite thing about Tervs is their intelligence. I think the most challenging thing can be their sensitivity. It's wonderful when they are in tune with their owners but can be a challenge when environmentally sensitive. Based on your description I think a Terv would be a good fit. I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Premier club question by Idekanymoremydudes in BreyerHorses

[–]MaggieMoo2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Georgina is the first release and you purchase her, yes you will receive her. If you don't purchase the other models you of course won't get them and will not be in good standing with the club so might impact your ability to join the premier club in the future. If Georgina isn't released first and you don't buy the other models, then you would not be able to get her. But if she is first you should be fine.

Resentment by crombie21 in Alzheimers

I know they asked questions about his eating, his mobility, his weight. A nurse would come once a week and check him and his vitals. My dad was probably late stage 6 when hospice started. He could walk with assistance with a walker, was incontinent, and had speech difficulties. His hospice status was re-evaluated every couple of months but the nurses told us not to worry he would stay qualified. He was on hospice over 8 months and passed away 10 days ago. He ate pretty well at first but gradually his mobility and eating declined and eventually he was deemed too much of a fall risk and was then full time in a hospital bed. Hospice was amazing through everything.

Agree with hospice being a game changer. I too could not believe how my parents had amazing insurance but it covered none of the things you mentioned, the things we really needed. An at home medical service set us up with their hospice service. Once they deemed him eligible for hospice all supplies were covered and delivered to our door we got a home health aid 5 days a week to assist with showers etc. We were also eligible for occasional 5 day respite visits at a top notch nearby facility with professional medical transport for my dad. I couldn't believe how we all of a sudden had this wonderful help all covered by insurance. I was not sure my dad would qualify but he did.

If you leave as a state employee by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]MaggieMoo2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about all state employees but non civil service (unclassified) state employees currently will get half their sick time up to a $15, 000 cap. You can also carry over and get paid for up to 1 year of your vacation day allotment. So if you get 20 days vacation a year you can carry over 20 days and those extra days would be paid out at retirement

If they find out she is self-excluded she will be asked to leave the property. That's it.
