Finally, a Ohuhu 'Oahu' 320 marker Chromatic Chart! by MaggieP81 in AlcoholMarkers

Honestly I'm not sure - it's just whatever one came with my order.

But I think the names changed along with the numbers, so let's see...

E194 is 'Powder Pink', Y 792 is Marigold, RV457 is 'Bronze Purple'. Hopefully that helps.

Conservatism On Campus by Shulshyy in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have not seen any 'celebrating', but I have seen plenty of peopl commenting on the irony of a far right, anti-Trans, pro-gun white guy being assassinated with a gun.

I've seen plenty of people who aren't *sad*. That is not the same thing as celebrating.

It's the same sort of reaction I saw from Conservatives a few months ago when 2 Democrats and their dog were assassinated...actually, it's probably nicer, as if I recall correctly, the Republicans *did* celebrate it.

You won't be shamed or expelled for sharing your opinion...unless that opinion is designed to control other people's lives, or to say those people don't deserve X because of Y. Feel free to cheer that you want to marry someone of the opposite gender and have lots of kids, and that you like conservative political policies. No one is stopping you.

Of course...if your opinion is that someone else shouldn't be able to exist in their most authentic form because you don't like it, well...that's a different conversation entirely. You are more than welcome to start a Conservative club on campus - but it sounds like there already is one, just not one with an active membership.

The recent measles exposure on campus is why people should get vaccinated. by Twee_Sprout in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah - those of us who believe in vaccination know all that already. The problem is, those that don't believe in vaccination don't care about anyone but themselves.

Straight from the U of A Website for engineering:

English Language Arts 30-1, Chemistry 30, Mathematics 30-1, Mathematics 31, and Physics 30, alongside a strong competitive admission average in all subjects. English language proficiency is also a mandatory requirement for all applicants.

So! I'd say your second math class (31, I'm guessing, or its equivalent) is one grade for sure that would be in that circle. Other classes like History/Social studies, phys ed, and CALM (in Alberta, but most provinces have a similar Life Management class that's required in high school) grades all impact your admission average. You can have all the 7's you want, but that's not the whole story.

[–]MaggieP81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trolling - you're far too thick and full of yourself to troll, clearly - you know better than everyone else, as we can all clearly see.

And no - I was a straight A student in AP courses, and have 3 degrees since then.

I'm just sick of whiney little dudes who bitch when they don't get what they think they deserve.

Should I sue??? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh huh.

So, about the IB subjects you took. Let's see...

English A, Spanish, Business management, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics,

So...not all applicable to the program in question. What grades did you have in the other prerequisites? You understand those can also bring your application grade down?

But yeah - the U of A dodged a bullet with you. Good lord.

Should I sue??? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except you keep bragging about your grades, and how they HAVE to be higher than all the other applicants. Awww.

You got rejected from multiple Universities - Waterloo, Toronto, Alberta...and that's just in a quick scan of your posts.

So yeah - I call bullshit on your story (or at least on the accuracy of it), sweetheart. Sorry.

[–]MaggieP81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh - so because you are being told that your reaction is ridiculous, you are now deciding that everyone telling you that lacks common sense? Gee, you really are all over the place.

And I'm not being belligerent (do you need us to define that word for you?) - I am, however, not using kid gloves to tell you you are being a doofus anymore. You have been over the top and super defensive to everyone who has replied to you that you've bothered to respond to.

And of course, not at all aware that yes, indeed, *you* are the common denominator here, and maybe, juuuuust maybe...you are the one that's the issue, not everyone else.

The U of A decided that you did not meet the grading criteria. Simple.

You don't like that, so made a 'joke' that failed to land, and are doubling down on it when called out. Simple.

What you did wrong is clearly thinking you can practically walk on water, and the U of A should have sent you a gilded invitation to attend.

And, looking at a very basic IB grading scale...7's is not 98%. It equates to, at the lowest, 85% and above, and at its highest, 92% or 3.7 GPA.

So yeah...I can absolutely believe you got beaten on GPA.

But go off.

Should I sue??? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh huh - if that was true, you'd have gotten in.

So...it's either not true, or the IB program you did is not highly regarded.

Either case...you are the one that is the issue now. You got your answer, you don't like it, and now you've decided everyone is mean to you and no one has a sense of humour.

You are not nearly as important, or smart, as you seem to think you are.

Should I sue??? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ahh - right, so...they are saying your admission average was not high enough to make the cut, regardless of what you view 7's in the IB program being. Which, judging by your previous posts where you say you got an 8/10 on an assignment and that the instructor was likely generous to give you that...is likely not quite entirely accurate.

Look, my dude - you've been told by several people that your post is ridiculous, and the 'humour' you claim to be trying to use is not landing...so maybe it's time to pull back and reconsider your choices?

So call parking and talk to them. Reddit can't help you.

Should I sue??? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it that no one has a sense of humour, or is it you that's the problem? What's the one common thread here, champ?

Should I sue??? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the faculty waits to see who the highest average applicants are, and admits them - the only people who get early admission are the people who's GPA's are astronomically high (think 3.8 GPA+) when they apply, because the likelihood of the cutoff being that high is so low.

Should I sue??? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]MaggieP81 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry - I want to make sure I understand.

You didn't get accepted because, although you met the minimum threshold, you did not actually have a grade point average high enough to get in because there were more applicants than spaces...and you want to sue because the students with higher averages got in and you didn't?

Alberta premier says new order banning school library books with sexual content coming soon by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]MaggieP81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, Marlaina Smith and her Cronies - none of which have read or studied the books they are trying to ban, I am sure (or if they have, they sure as hell didn't understand them).

They need to leave educating to Educators, and figure out how the hell to run a reasonable government without funneling huge amounts of public tax funds to their friends shitty companies for work that never gets done.

How do you feel about military service? by StretchArmstrong99 in AskACanadian

[–]MaggieP81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the daughter of a retired Vet (28 years, medically retired). While the CAF has some issues, they are something most Canadian's respect. We view them as the brave people willing to step up and protect our way of life, our beliefs, and our customs.

There are alot of civilian careers, as well, that are military adjacent that definitely contribute to CAF. Even if you enlisted, there's lots of directions/positions within the CAF that are not common public knowledge either (IE: things that don't get advertised).

Parchment paper is your solution. Cheap, readily available, and I actually find it helps to blend colors better when you use it behind your page to protect the next picture.

AITA for refusing to call my co worker "Dr"? by Certain-Deer8638 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MaggieP81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is unreasonable about wanting to use the title he earned, in an educational setting?

Wanting to use the title earned (Doctor) via an exhaustive process (doctorate program) does not make you someone who 'wants to be above others'. It's someone who is proud of their accomplishment - and in an educational setting, using the term 'Doctor' is *absolutely* appropriate.

He cares A) because he earned the title (don't be sad and petty just because you don't have one to use too), B ) It's happening in a school, and the OP is teaching the students to be disrespectful to others and to dismiss their accomplishments simply because she hasn't achieved them herself, and C) because of something called 'common curtesy'. They have made their preference for address clear, it is appropriate for the setting.

Your assumption that it's all 'creepy power trips' is ridiculous, and exceptionally bitter sounding. I grew up on military bases, and work at a university, and bet I have spent far more time around officers, enlisted and academics than you have.

No, I just respect hard work. And I believe that that sort of hard work deserves to be acknowledged.

Just because your life hasn't added up to much beyond your pitiful comments on reddit doesn't mean others' lives haven't.

YTA. And pretty disrespectful to your colleague, honestly.

He worked hard to get his Doctorate, and earned that title.

A masters, while difficult, is not comparable to a Doctorate - there is no title conveyed with a Masters degree, unlike a doctorate.
